Metropolitan London League (short) history - saved

The competition began as a 2-section one and maintained this shape for three seasons. For the 1974-1975 season the London Metropolitan (or Metropolitan-London) League had only one division of 20 clubs, numbers having fallen to a level which made this the only sensible thing to do. In the seasons when there were two sections there was little movement between the divisions and the few changes are indicated by use of bold type for promotion and italics for relegation in the final tables below.

In the end, it was the latter set of discussions which bore fruit and the result was the creation of the London Spartan League in 1975.
