At AFC Sudbury

Admission: £4
Programme: £2
Attendance: 107 h/c

The Ipswich players may have been 2 years younger than most of their opponents but they still had too much class for the Sporting team.

Some great goals and certainly a few players on show who will be in the Ipswich academy next season.

Good set up at Sudbury ( Sporting are from Bury, but had hired the Sudbury facility) good covid safety procedures in place. Sport made the most of the occasion with a £2 glossy programme.

Derby County 3 v 1 Stoke City

Match played at Mickleover Sports. Additional 50p paid for a QR code ticket. Pitch in good condition and weather dry.

Derby County got their first win of the season, scoring with a speculative shot form outside the box after 2 minutes. Another added before half time.

Third goal came on 62 minutes and although Stoke got a consolation they never looked like getting anything from the game. Overall standard not great tonight, too many misplaced passes but enjoyable nonetheless.

Played on the newly railed outside pitch in atrocious conditions as Storm Alex started early. For those that have been to Oakfields, the 200yd approach road until you get to the outside pitch will soon be swallowed up by a new housing estate and bypass road; it really will start to seem hemmed in all of a sudden.
Last season's U18 vintage had an indifferent spell until the season was curtailed. At least 2 or 3 of them have moved up into the 'A' team in the Trowbridge League which is as it should be.
However this lot (and yes, there are some new faces) look really good; coach Colby Cain has a heap of raw talent on his hands here. There are some serious 'ballers' in this squad of players and plenty of evidence of that tonight. They are lightning quick and good on the ball; perhaps an over-tendency to complicate things at times but not afraid to try something. It made for an entertaining 90 minutes; due to the conditions, I watched from the executive box (my car). The 3-0 HT score was flattering to NCS as Town also hit the bar and post. Second half Town missed a hatful of chances but the two goals they scored were quality. Thursday nights here at the infiLED Arena are assured viewing for me this season on this evidence. RWB Town next and the big test will still be the established acadamies at the two Chippenham clubs.

nice trip up from manchester. walk through the mining disaster memorial park on the way to the ground. nice pre-match chat with the officials observer.
decent game both teams had a number of chances, hosts more of them and both squandered some excellent chances too. score was probably a fair reflection of the hosts superiority in the 90.
cloud coverage lifted for the north sea to be illuminated by the moon.

This is the very edge of how far I'd go midweek - the 19:30 KO and the fact that Sat is likely to be short trip/nowhere due to weather persuaded me to go.

A gem of a ground - on a hill some miles out of Esh Winning in the next village (Waterhouses), with good views of the countryside, main stand and clubhouse (social distancing excellent) on one side, four small bus-shelter like covered areas opposite and some wooden benches, some under cover, high up above the top goal. Hardstanding elsewhere. Corners a bit dark under the lights.

Esh took the lead with a pen on 25 and extended on 49 scrambling in a corner from close range. Washington got one back out of the blue on 59 and dominated thereafter but couldn't get any of their chances on target.

A few minor hiccups on the A1 home, including getting stuck behind a slow moving wide load for 35 miles, still indoors at 01:55.

Admission £3 (online ticket, no booking fee)
at Loughborough University FC

First visit to the Loughborough University Stadium (or Holywell Sports Complex) since 2012.

All parts of the ground open, but the best view (IMO) is from the raised seating area and this is also the only covered area, Bar was open to sit in but no drinks available and no tea bar either,

Unlike the men's team on the previous Saturday, Albion held on to a 3-0 lead but then again the third goal had been scored in the 3rd minute of stoppage time so not very likely!
