It's okay, even-minded Isaac will come on shortly to condemn this breach.
It's okay I've had time to reflect. I think anyone who has had to attend a party with couple from hell Tice and Oakeshott has probably suffered enough!

I bet Isabel Oakeshott is gutted missing a breaking story from right under her nose!

Maybe she's not a journalist at all just a propagandist.

It will soon be easier to list which politicians, on all sides, HAVEN'T broken the 'rules'!! And even then, I wouldn't believe them........

Naughty Bob Seely Tory MP breaking lockdown rules Tut Tut!

Totally forgiven by me....

Obviously not by the Witch Hunters.

How they must be loving all these new rules with which to hang people out to dry.

If you ever wondered how the cultural revolution in China caused 20 million deaths you only have to look at the eagerness with which TLT and others will condemn folk for minor transgressions...

Scary times indeed and I'm not referring to the virus.

Oakeshott might have been concerned that it would emerge that she was at her second home. It now has. Suggest the government introduce 14 days quarantine on arrival at Portsmouth / Southampton / Lymington.
Seely's actions were a breach, but not in the Cummings category. Not sure how far he travelled on the island to get to Seaview.

Amongst the many questions that will need to be addressed in the eventual inquest, given the unacceptable level of deaths, are (1) were the rules adequate in the first place and (2) to what extent was a half-arsed attitude towards adherence to them a factor. Two fundamental questions about leadership.

In that context, gossipy news items and petty point scoring about barbecues, second homes etc can too easily divert from the real issues rather than reinforcing them. And who benefits from that..

That's very good of you.
You've absolved the Labour transgressors as well then ?
I dont really know the specifics of each case but yes, I would probably be more forgiving.

I'm of the belief that the rules are to be tailored to personal circumstances.
It's easy to condemn the residents of the apartment block of 6 households next to my property for socialising in the communal grounds behind the building when you live in a house with a self contained garden.
There are people on this forum who would publicly condemn and humiliate those families.......
They would condemn the two 20something daughters of one of the residents for moving back in with their parents.
I wouldn't.
They've followed lockdown regulations to suit their personal circumstances.

To me , that's fine.
We're not robots and one rule doesn't always fit all.

Rolling commentary shows like BBC Breakfast and GmTV with Piers Morgan have done their utmost to portray the Govt in a bad light and to confuse the message.
Look on Twitter and all the Luvvies play the same game.
Has it had an effect.?..I think it has.
What is the purpose?
To discredit the Tory Govt.
The only group of people continuing to push the important public health messages and advice is the government.

Lockdown ended when Cummins refused to resign.

I do wonder how many people who look like they're attending protests today are actually just testing their eyesight.

And there's the problem. Johnson & his cabinet of clowns now have absolutely no authority to issue warnings about the dangers of breaching lockdown.

Yes but in terms of public opinion the effect goes beyond that. Your media and twitterati end up creating so much white noise and faux outrage that they end up defeating themselves because the public either see through it or get totally fed up of it. Which ultimately dilutes the accountability of their targets, so opening up a post truth era. Exploited magnificently by the Trump campaign in 2016 - without the liberal luvvies constantly on his case he wouldn't have had half the ammo that got him into the White House!

That alone should tell us it's not a healthy situation all round.

And now Tory cheerleaders are openly stating things they want to come out of the pandemic

* New employees to be taken on an agency worker basis.
* Cease enrolment of new workers into a company pension scheme.
* Cease increases in the minimum wage.
* Remove "petty red tape", such as limiting the hours truckers drive for.
etc

Sadly, most people putting themselves at risk by attending this protest are from the ‘high risk’ ethnic category.
personally, I am as appalled as anyone by the death in America of George Floyd, but I am also appalled by the encouragement from so many leftie celebrities to support this lockdown-breaching rally today.
Anyone using Dominic Cummings rule-breaking as an excuse to gather in groups of thousands, is truly stupid beyond belief.

anybody under 30 with no underlying health conditions wether black or white have very very little chance of dying or becoming ill from Covid. The issue is these same people can kill older people who they come into close contact with.

So how much further are you going to take your Dominic Cummings obsession?

Are you going to blame him for the black lives matter demo in London yesterday? The irony of course is that no lives matter to those idiots or they wouldn't be having a demo in the middle of Covid-19 and let's hope nobody ends up on a ventilator as a result saying "I can't breath".

As for George Floyd obviously he didn't deserve to die but let's not make a martyr out of a violent criminal. And clearly some black lives matter more than others, where were the protests about the tragic death of retired police captain David Dorn? This man died a hero but why no protest?

I agree, the death of George Floyd will hopefully be a watershed moment and we'll see a sea change in police actions and accountability.
As much as I believe the protests are really important and probably the only way to get this message front and centre, the hypocrisy of the left is appalling.
With regard to Covid deaths ,
I'm not convinced about Black and Asians being at more risk more than the risk really being about socio economic factors and underlying health issues or co-morbidities .That could easily apply to white folk.
In other words, is there a study that shows Black and Asians with comparable socioeconomic disadvantages and health issues more likely to die than their white counterparts with the same issues?

Surely socioeconomic factors are why BAME people are more likely to catch the virus, but they wouldn’t explain why they appear more likely to die from it.

According to a local (Asian) doctor friend of ours, the reason is a genetic weakness to it.

I applaud the protesters in Bristol who tore down the statue of Edward Colston and rolled it half a mile to Pero's Bridge and dumped it in in Bristol docks.
A brilliantly symbolic action that anyone with ties to Bristol will fully understand.

I'd like to think the issue of systemic racism is the one issue that everyone on this forum and throughout the land can find common ground on.

Not so impressed with the protesters in London throwing bikes at mounted police officers but then again, deploying mounted police officers was a typical Met Police over reaction.
