Just announced on Football Focus that the oldest surviving Three Lion, Derek Ufton, has passed away aged 92. He only earned one England cap cap vs Rest of Europe in 1953. He was captain of Charlton Athletic when they came back from 1-5 down to beat Huddersfield Town 7-6 in 1957 and was also a professional cricketer for Kent. He later managed Plymouth Argyle.

A complete legend at Charlton. I never met him, sadly, but everyone at the club held him in both awe and affection. You'd literally never meet someone with a bad word to say about him. A very gifted sportsman and a truly nice bloke. RIP.

Coached at Tooting & Mitcham between Charlton & Plymouth

At Dartford Grammar School he was taught P.E. by Joe Jagger, father of Mick
and Mick would turn up at his games. Ufton's claim to fame was that a young
Jagger asked for his autograph before the reverse
