Too early?

Well, today the 2020-21 competition dates for the third round onwards have been "leaked":

– 3ème tour : 19 et 20 septembre
– 4ème tour : 3 et 4 Octobre
– 5ème tour : 17 et 18 Octobre
– 6ème tour : 31 octobre et 1er Novembre
– 7ème tour : 21 et 22 Novembre
– 8ème tour : 12 et 13 Décembre

Perhaps most interesting is that Ligue 2 clubs will this time enter at the 8th round rather than the seventh. It is reported that this is a one-off, but there doesn't seem to be a logical reason.

A handful of matches in Mayotte were scheduled in February before lockdown, Only one result has been published, but at least one other game completed. Who knows whether these will stand.

According to Europlan, the French Leagues will start on 23 August wth max crowds of 5000 - which means all these cup matches are OK to watch - and the first and second rounds as they are normally from 23 August in most regions

According to another source, 1st and 2nd rounds will be on weekends of 6th and 13th September.

There's going to be some busy rules and disciplinary commissions trying to solve all the round 1 issues in a week :D

One effect of Ligue 2 teams entering in the 8th round, is that there will only be 136 teams qualify for the 7th round, rather than the usual 156, so there will need to be a rework of the distribution of qualification places across the regions.

Few more changes for the 2020-21 qualifying:

As announced last year, Réunion will join Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guiana in having two qualifiers to the 7th round and a head-to-head match resulting in one 8th round qualifier.

However, Mayotte will also get a second 7th round qualifier, and guaranteed one 8th round qualifier.

The 124 mainland qualifiers will be distributed as follows:
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes 16
Bourgogne-Franche-Comté: 7
Bretagne 12
Centre-Val de Loire 4
Corsica 2
Grand Est 16
Hauts-de-France 18
Méditerranée 4
Normandy 7
Nouvelle-Aquitaine 11
Occitanie 9
Pays de la Loire 9
Paris-Île-de-France 9

The Saint-Pierre et Miquelon qualifier will this year enter the third round of the Pays de la Loire qualifying
