Shame that yet another shale action track bites the dust. I quite liked the quirky facility at Loomer Road, nought fancy but did what it said on the tin! A rare chance of a double with footy too as they were a Saturday night track. RIP the Potters!

Sad news. Only got there the twice but saw a 16 year old Darcy Ward get a maximum. Bloody dangerous but exciting sport at its best. Sadly the promoters (BSPA) slowly killed the sport IMO with continual tinkering of the rules alienating the wider press who prefer to ignore it.

2019-20 - 32 games, last Loughborough Foxes v Nottm Forest Women 10/10, goals 101, avgpg 3.15, new grounds 9. Last - Loughborough University 10/10.

RL Grounds - 34 (Last - Craven Park, Barrow - 8/9/19), Speedway Tracks 50.

Been to Loomer Road many times over the years. Usually decent racing there. National League stuff was reasonably well supported but Stokeís latterly sparse crowds indicate nobody is bothered about third tier Ďwobblersí. Given British speedwayís parlous state, there are likely to be further closures before the tapes rise on the 2020 season. Back to one league?

Canít see one league unless we can find loads more riders. With most of the top two divs teams have five riders doubling down/up. The top division only survived this season thanks to Buster Chapman running 3 of the 7 teams. Is it the only sport on TV that actually loses money because of a TV deal? If Iím correct, BT donít pay anything and if itís on the telly the crowds go down. But thatís speedways fault for not embracing Sky when they were showing it.
And now the play offs are coming this week, the one week crowds are usually very good, and the weather looks crap.

The rate at which speedway clubs are closing, it won't be long before there aren't enough for anything other than one league. I see proposed redevelopment at the East of England Showground puts Peterborough under threat.

Final motorsport event at Loomer Road, Stoke (opened in 1973), is on November 2, a Grand Farewell meeting headlined by BriSCA F1 stock cars. Starts at 5pm.

Most fans appear to want a top div of 12 and the rest in the National league, they mostly hate the lack of meetings, but the riders prefer 2 smaller leagues as they get loads more meetings, and as most of them arenít good enough to ride abroad this is another reason why 3 leagues are here for a bit longer yet. Plus the likes of Newcastle, Edinburgh etc wonít go up or down and the status quo will remain until we do (unfortunately) lose a few more. Iím astounded Píboro have survived until now, once they lost their regular Friday night slot, crowds have been poor. Many promoters have lost money keeping them going, Iím sure only the profits from Ipswich (where crowds have been good this season) and to a lesser extent K Lynn will subsidise them for another season.
