I know it's not non-league, before anyone moans!

FCHD has this game as not being played, and I'm aware of the reasons behind this. My query is why there are notes which claim that Scunthorpe were awarded the points, but there is no sign in any table I can find of this actually being applied. Scunthorpe have 42 points from 45 games and had they been actually awarded the extra points would have finished in 14th not 18th.

I think you've got your maths wrong. According to this league table -

Scunny won 14 games @ 2 points per game, and drew 12 games @ 1 point per game. This would have given them 40 points. The table shows them with 42 points, having been awarded 2 points for the non-played fixture.
