They played like that for about 20 minutes of the second half when they visited Tranmere on the opening day so it's a relief to see them doing it to someone else too! I've rarely seen football of that quality in the lower divisions.

The real point that needs to be made is not that Rochdale were good, but why Southend were so poor. They have lost every league game they have played this season. Even Bolton aren't that bad. I can't wait to see Oxford play them on Leap Day.

I live in Southend territory and know several of their fans who are unanimous in the fact their side are as bad as they have ever seen.
If they lose this weekend it will be 7 league defeats from 7 which will give their manager Kevin Bond an 007 record...

That said the build up for that goal is superb irrespective of the opposition.

Well, looking on the bright side at least no-one on the Southend team could be pulled up for offside, as none of them could possibly be accused of interfering with play.
