I’m gradually working my way through the grounds in the North East, wondering if there’s any in particular that stand out to get to? Currently looking to go as far down as Northern League Div 2

Loads to enjoy in that neck of the woods but my (not so)short-list would be: Reeking of history: Crook, West Auckland, Willington, Tow Law and maybe Shildon, though they've built a shiny new stand since I was there. Quirky/eccentric: Thornaby, Ryton & Crawcrook, Esh Winning, Easington Terraces: Whitley Bay, Chester-le-St Best of the bigger boys: Blyth Spartans, a 'proper ground' in every sense.

Would agree with a lot of those, although I've probably not been to as many. Best I've been to/seen there (in no particular order): Blyth Spartans, Tow Law, Ryton + Crawcrook, Whickham (best food), Esh Winning. Chester-le-Street, Seaham, and West Auckland aren't bad either and the latter has the history. Splodge describes Crook as 'ground porn' but unfortunately it was waterlogged for my planned visit a couple of weeks ago, so I couldn't get to see it. Billingham Synthonia is also really good, but it's not in use at the moment. Carlisle City is in the Northern League, and is worth visiting (food good too) but of course it's not in the North East!
If you're going to/been to a Hampshire Premier League match, I'd really appreciate you filling in a questionnaire - available in the Groundhopping/General section, or just PM me for a copy. Thanks.

Some very interesting grounds below Northern Div 2 - Horden, Seaton Delaval, Murton, Wingate and Percy Main. The disused ground at Stanley-by-Crook is also a must-see. Would add Prudhoe to the recommended list in the Northern League.

Thank you for the responses! Currently tied to those roughly within the Newcastle area so will be a trip to either Heaton or Whickham tonight. Whitley Bay is definitely one I want to get done asap. Totally agree re Blyth, one of my favourites I’ve been to!

If you like your real ale then Heaton Stannington's worth a visit for that alone as its clubhouse has won 'club of the year' awards from CAMRA.

Shame. Thought it was a great ground. There's also Hazel Grove at Cockfield, now home of West Auckland Tunns (Wearside League). Now called Coronation Terrrace? Steveb of this parish visited it last year (it's on his blog). Modest as it might be nowadays, it once hosted a village team that was a force in the FA Amateur Cup in the 1920s. History there!
