Blast, I cannot get to the airport in time for the next flight, (18.45 off Paris), which only gets me there at 22.15 tomorrow (two changes, Montreal and Halifax) Surely, it would have been a bargain at £3610 return? You'll just have to plan ahead and go to the "second round" game in a couple of weeks... I can't find a second round match scheduled anywhere, and the wording of this article https://la1ere.francetvinfo.fr/...e-france-723228.html also suggests that the first match may have been a one-off. So maybe AS Ilienne Amateurs didn't enter this year and ASM have already qualified? Either way, the qualifying team will play in the third round again this year, but against a team in or around the Lyon metropolitan area. Demonstrating yet again how wrong I can be, ASIA beat ASM 3-0 on Wednesday evening.

I noticed, whilst looking for the highlights of the ASIA-ASM match, that there are a dozen direct weekly flights from Paris to St Pierre during the summer - the first being on 24 June. The operator is ASL Airlines. Highlights of the first arrival http://mbedftv-a.akamaihd.net/...969a77fc1947015d193e One of the passengers being interviewed says it's a 5 hour flight. Also because the runway is relatively short the number of passengers on the 737 are restricted to 100. Return Fares (in euros) Refundable Adults 1219 60+ 982 Non-refundable Adults 1021 60+ 823

Sadly, the website says the direct flights run until September 11th. Last season, the third round of the cup was September 16th ASIA will be away in the third round (and, I understand, any other round they reach up to and including 6th) clubs from the Lyon metropolitan area have been invited to apply as hosts.

Excuse me for butting in with a different cup, but here is the draw for the first round of the Coupe de la Ligue, scheduled for 13 August (give or take one day). For this season, there are 5 clubs defined as "Professional" in National, which requires a preliminary round at Bourg-en-Bresse on 26 July There are six games in the second round, ten in round 3 (introduction of 14 Ligue 1 clubs not in Europe) and 8 games in round 4 (introduction of the other 6 Ligue 1 clubs) Les rencontres du 1er tour : Clermont Foot – Havre AC (1) ESTAC Troyes – RC Lens (2) Grenoble Foot 38 – Rodez Aveyron Football (3) Gazélec FC Ajaccio – FC Chambly (4) Red Star FC – Bourg-en-Bresse 01 ou Quevilly Rouen Métropole (5) FC Lorient – Le Mans FC (6) Paris FC – FC Sochaux-Montbéliard (7) Chamois Niortais – Châteauroux (8) SM Caen – AS Nancy Lorraine (9) AC Ajaccio – Valenciennes FC (10) AJ Auxerre – AS Béziers (11) US Orléans – EA Guingamp (12)

This is an interesting development: http://www.foot-national.com/...utre-mer-121206.html In Guadeloupe, Martinique and French Guiana, instead of having two teams entering the 7th round, the two teams will play each other for a guaranteed place in the 8th round. The same will apply for Réunion from 2020-21, but not this season. No change for Mayotte, Tahiti or New Caledonia.

A significant reduction in the cost of flying teams between Metropolitan France and the outre mer regions. More information at https://www.footamateur.fr/...ne-au-septieme-tour/ The principal or alternating home/away for Outre Mer clubs continues this season. So the 8th round tie involving the Guadaloupe qualifier will be in Guadeloupe. The 8th round ties involving the Martinique and French Guiana clubs will take place in France, regardless of the order of the 8th round draw. If they are drawn first, or are two or more levels below their drawn opponent, the Outre-Mer team must arrange a suitable venue with a supporting club within 100km of Paris. There will just two 7th round ties involving mainland clubs travelling overseas: to Réunion and Tahiti. In the 8th round, just one to Guadeloupe (unless the New Caledonian team, or the mainland-visiting Réunion team win in the 7th round). This compares with 5 and 1 respectively in each of the last three seasons. *not counting Corisca as Overseas, in case there are pedants reading.

After a laptop death, which almost proved disastrous (see below if you're interested) I'm caught up again just in time for the third round this weekend. The number of qualifiers, by region and tier, can be found at https://docs.google.com/...l0w/edit?usp=sharing There are 2133 teams - including 9 given byes to round 4, but not including those exempt to round 4. I have not included outre-mer teams in this breakdown (yet). As at 11/09 there are still 7 qualifiers to be decided due to late games or outstanding committee procedures. Full draws and results for all regions are at https://en.wikipedia.org/...e_Preliminary_Rounds Worthy of note: One National 3 team, AC Boulogne-Billancourt, does not seem to have entered the competition. They are not listed as a bye, and do not have a fixture. I can't recall this happening recently, and I thought it was a requirement of playing in the National divisions. (Dropbox was a lifesaver, but I was only backing files up weekly. A week is a long time when the first two rounds of the CdF are kicking off, but at least it allowed me to re-work and catch up using my wife's laptop whilst I got hold of another one and set it up. From now on I will edit all my files directly from Dropbox rather than keeping local copies and backing up.)

Confirms that the result of my game at Petits Anges was reversed, but they will play away at Eragny on Sunday. I did not see a first round game in this competition, but saw two in the second round - one at Petits Anges back in June, and then at Soligny Aspres Moulins on September 1st. I have a couple of options for the third round this week, including a Saturday night game at US Mondeville Best options for Sunday (within Orne) are Couteille Alencon (who I saw win in the last round), Bouce and Athis

The third round seems to have gone off quite smoothly. I spotted about ten or so National 3 clubs knocked out on the first pass of the results, but I'll have a final figure later this week. Just five results awaited across the mainland (4 from Brittany and 1 from Paris IDF). Two games still to be played (1 in Pays-de-la-Loire, 1 in Grand Est). Two matches in Paris IDF declared as "not played" despite originally having scorelines published, including our old friends Petits Anges again. The game in Grand Est between AF Laxou Sapinière and Toul JCA was abandoned after the home team were reduced to 7 players. The game in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté between FC Nevers Banlay and CA St Georges was abandoned six minutes from full time after a mass brawl between players of both sides. Fourth round draws: tonight - P-IDF, BFC, ARA, 18/9 - PdlL, Britt, Norm, GE 19/9 - CvdL, HdF, Med, Corsica, Occ, 20/9 - NA

In terms of qualifying from the Outre-Mer tournaments, the biggest shock is that Martinique's Aiglon du Lamentin, who made it to the round of 64 in the main competition last season before narrowly losing out to US Orléans, fell at the first qualifying round. The competition in Martinique is down to 16 teams (for two places) and the next round is midweek next week (24/25 September) And the first qualifier to the seventh round is known: It is A.S. Vénus of Tahiti, who won the Coupe de Tahiti Nui at the weekend. They will participate in the Coupe de France for the first time since 1995.

Fifth round this weekend. Most of the draw is sorted, just a couple of issues to resolve in Hauts-de-France and Paris-IDF. Only 66 District teams remain (plus an outside chance of one more from the above), and there are just 5 all-district ties in the fifth round (1 in Occitanie, 4 in Hauts-de-France): AS Canétoise (10) v US Monoblet (9) Olympique Maroilles (11) v USAC Somain (10) Verton FC (9) v USO Meurchin (10) US Yser (9) v RC Bergues (10) US Abbeville (9) v AS Beaurains (10) Three D4 (tier 12) clubs are the lowest ranked to remain in the draw: AS Kurtzenhouse (Grand Est, Alsace) ASC Roubaix (Hauts-de-France, Flandres) AS Bourg-la-Reine (Paris IDF, Hauts-de-Seine)

Unless I have misread a result, it appears that all 18 National 1 (tier 3) teams have progressed into the sixth round. The match between Roubaix and Beauvais was halted just before half time, when a spectator through a lighter, which hit the assistant referee. ASBO (Association Sportive Beauvais-Oise) had just gone 1-0. The other two surviving tier 12 teams went out.
