Passed away on 24 June, aged 77. Old-fashioned 'no-nonsense' defensive midfielder. Perhaps best remembered for being sent off on his league debut for Tranmere, away at Torquay in 1967, for knocking John Bond out cold. 52 appearances and 5 goals for Rovers between 1967 and 1970.

He is very highly regarded at Altrincham where he played 161+1 games and scored 10 goals between 1973 and 1976. Besides playing in the first game I ever saw in 1974, he featured in the team who were held to a draw by Everton the following year. He is also renowned for being the only man to have successfully imtimidated John King (the Altrincham one, not the Tranmere one) on the field of play, before the latter replaced him as club hard man.
