playoffs at step 5 Can't Post or Reply Privately

with the season drawing to a close it was done and dusted some weeks ago for many teams what is the general feeling to introducing play offs at step 5 it works ok from step 4 upwards i personal think it keeps the season alive for longer giving more teams the possibility of promotion. does any one know why playoffs stop at step 4 or if is likely to change

Mainly because there haven't been enough promotion places available to warrant having play-offs.

Step 5 will have promotion playoffs in future season. The 14 runners up will have regional inter-league semifinal playoffs. Then the winners will progress & play the 3rd bottom placed step 4 clubs.
Next season will be slightly different though with extra promotions. With the top 3 NL, NCEL & NWCL being promoted. All the other step 5 winners. The 4 best runners up, excluding the 3 league’s mentioned. The final 7 runners up will have a one off playoff game against the 7 step 4 bottom placed clubs.

At 6 so they don't stop at 4 but I know what you mean.

Are you sure? With the FA saying promotion from Step 6 is champions and then some runners-up by spreadsheet, there isn't any scope for play-off winners, is there?

Correct. No playoffs in the NWCFL in any of their divisions this season. Promotion and relegation is in the hands of the FA all the way to the Step 6-7 level.

Which is why the apparently-successful NCEL playoffs have also disappeared this season.

Don't have them at step 5 anyhow. It was the first division that had them which is step 6.

Well that is a blow! Not a fan of play-offs but was looking forward to a game or two in the NWCL. Whitchurch was great last season.

They've moved all the cup finals to the following bank holiday weekend this year at least.

The league cup is at Altrincham FC on Saturday 4th 1pm KO - 1874 Northwich v City of Liverpool. The first division cup is at Vauxhall Motors FC on the Monday 1pm KO - Avro v Sandbach.

Edit: If Warrington or Radcliffe get to their playoff finals it might even be possible to double header it with an Evostik playoff.
