NPL East/West Divisions for 19/20 - Step 4. Can't Post or Reply Privately

Heard that the NPL is considering moving the dividing line yet again - to a North-West/South-East alignment for 19/20. This would presumably take the NE clubs out of the East Div and add into it some of the more "southerly" clubs like Chasetown, Newcastle (Staffs etc). This seems odd as it was only changed at beginning of the 18/19 season from the established North/South split and this move would make it look very much like it was in 17/18. Plus, with the forthcoming move to the "perfect pyramid" in 20/21 it seems even more pointless as presumably some of the southerly NPL Step 4 clubs will be moved into the new extra Central step 4 league?
It all seems a bit "why bother" therefore?
Nonetheless I believe that this item is currently on the NPL Ctee agenda.
Does anyone have any definitive confirmation? and what the actual rationale is in-light of the future wider restructure?

I don't think it's yet set in stone where the new Step 4 division will be. It might be in the Midlands, it might be the North East, it might be neither.

At the recent Chairman's Meeting, the NPL produced a presentation showing that overall mileage will be less in the new NW and SE divisions. This is the reason given, although I have heard on the grapevine that a few "senior" Clubs have been moaning about the travel in the East. May or may not be true of course...

In any event there will always be winners and losers, we (at Cleethorpes) will have about an extra 600 miles to navigate in season 2019/20.

Assuming we are playing at step 4 in 2020/21, I would much prefer being in a (East) Midlands league than a North Eastern one.

2019/20 season: 16 competitive games
(10 NPL SE, 2 FA Cup, 2 FA Trophy, 1 League Cup, 1 FA Youth Cup)

Total goals: 64 (4 per game)
Most: 9 (Cleethorpes Town 5 Loughborough Dynamo 4 - 31/8/19)

Last 0-0: Ilkeston Town v Cleethorpes Town (Northern Premier League SE - 17/8/19)
(Current run: 15)

New grounds: 3 (Latest: Sutton Coldfield Town)

Interesting - so it clearly is serious then - is it likely to be implemented? and did they say which clubs were going where?......btw, looking fwd to playing you again next season!

Yes... it is definitely happening. If you look at the "Non-League Projections 2019/20" thread, you will see your likely opponents.

Shouldn't work out too bad travel wise for Worksop and it will be good to see a decent away following when you visit us!

I think we already have a pre-season friendly pencilled in at your place - so our first proper league fixture is now bound to be Clee away! Should be good - we have regularly been taking 200 away this season and we had 1,600 at home for the recent title showdown against Penistone. Will take a look at that projection then.

Predictor has changed the make-up of the NW & SE significantly after yesterday. Not so good for you boys as Stamford, Wisbech & Spalding all now predicted to be in other parallel leagues
