Both Bury & Bolton Wanderers have been given until 5pm today to submit request of evidence to satisfy the EFL. Or they face having their opening fixtures suspended. Guardian sports reporter David Conn, has tweeted that the Bury situation is a lot worse https://www.telegraph.co.uk/...-opening-league-one/

Breaking on Twitter: Bury's game suspended, Bolton's goes ahead.
Bury have until 2/8 to satisfy the EFL or the game v Accrington will suffer the same fate

Hate to kick a club that is down but surely further sanctions need levelling at Bury for failing to fulfil this fixture or simply give Dons the 3 points from Saturday's cancellation which is no fault of their own. Still doesn't compensate fans that have booked rail tickets from MK but maybe the FL should help with that one.

Can't help wondering now if administration rather than the CVA would have been a better option in terms of the club's survival prospects.

As Bolton players haven't been paid for 5 months are we sure they won't refuse to play?

With reported debts totaling £4.2m it would absolutely have been the better option. I have no idea of the payment plan but when we're talking that sort of money they will probably be forced down the admin route anyway.

The EFL have stated several times over the past few seasons that they're merely competition organisers

And now the BBC is reporting that Greater Manchester police have launched an investigation into fraud at the club. Not further details as yet but it's surely linked to the dodgy-looking shenanigans behind the CVA.

In other words GMP have received a complaint of alleged fraud at Bury FC and they have a duty to investigate it. I'd not read too much into it at this stage, a similar thing happened at the old Hinckley club and after months of collecting statements etc nothing happened.
