East Anglian League 1938/39 Can't Post or Reply Privately

Does anybody know if the EAL operated during the 1938/39 season ? I know the usual league operated in 37/38, and it then went to a shortened version for the war years, including Cambridge City, until the "original teams" returned in 1947/48. However I'm guessing that the league disbanded in 38/39 when war was declared but I don't know for sure........any thoughts ?
Thanks.

(Update: Just found an old result which confirms a start was made at least but no league table so no idea who played and how long the league lasted)

Would that be 39/40, rather 38/39 when the war started?

Hello Steve
I have a note that the East Anglian League was going to consist of the following for 1939-40:
a Beccles team
Corton
Eastern Coachworks reserves
Gothic
Lowestoft Town reserves
North Walsham
Wymondham
Unfortunately I have no source recorded for this.

The East Anglian League for 1939-40 was played between Cambridge Town, King's Lynn, Wisbech Town, Newmarket Town and an RAF XI. All games played.
There was an Eastern Counties Emergency League for 1939-40. Lowestoft Town played Bungay home and away but Lowestoft's games against CEYMS [Norwich] and Norwich Electricity Works were not played - source LTFC history.
Hope that helps
Neil

Hi Neil and Reborn Yellow

Thanks for your replies, it was actually 1938/39 I was after confirmation of, I knew it was played, at least in part, and I've today been promised a copy of the final table. I'm now sure that at least Beccles, Carton, Gothic, Lowestoft Town Res, N Walsham, Norwich CEYMS, Somerleyton and Wroxham were involved...

I also knew that a shortened emergency EAL took place in 1939/40 and carried on during the war, with a partly different set of teams from the 38/39 version, and featuring Cambridge City, but like you Neil haven't found any evidence that the "original" league actually started before the "emergency" league was introduced. You mentioned the LTFC history, funnily enough I met Mike Pearce at the weekend......
