Pegasus Juniors 1 Malvern Town 5

Old School Lane: Midland Floodlit Youth League Southern Division

Despite the rain that had fallen in this parts over recent days, it had fortunately relented today, meaning that this fixture went ahead without any problems. The pitch at Old School Lane was in good condition and this evening's fixture was a prelude to the two club's respective first teams' clash in the West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division. The hosts came into this evening's match in the lower-half of the Southern Division table despite a 2-1 victory at Cheltenham Town in their previous outing. Malvern Town found themselves in second place and had also enjoyed a 2-1 victory over Cheltenham Town last week.

It appeared that the two teams would head to the changing rooms goalless but the Worcestershire club netted twice in the space of four minutes. A 42nd minute cross from the right was swept home from close range and then in stoppage time the ball was stabbed home after a close range effort was blocked by the home defence. Pegasus Juniors halved the deficit four minutes after the interval when a home forward ran on to a through ball before sliding past the advancing Malvern Town custodian. The home goalkeeper was challenged for a deep 61st minute and the loose ball was subsequently turned into the net before a low shot beat the Pegasus Juniors custodian from the edge of the penalty area five minutes later. The Hillsiders completed the scoring in the 90th minute after pouncing on a defensive error before firing a low shot past the host's goalkeeper.

Wiltshire Floodlit Youth League
infiLED Stadium Pitch #2
Melksham Town U-18 7 Downton U-18 0
F&N Attendance: 32

Another comprehensive performance from this young Melksham side. Full of skill, pace and commitment, they are a joy to watch. On a perfect pitch, they moved the ball quickly and decisively against a Downton side that never gave up and played a lot better than the one that played Calne only 3-4 weeks ago.
It was 4-0 at HT; all the goals well crafted and finished and probably should have been at least 2 more with the woodwork being hit. Downton could have had a couple but the home side's keeper is a real gem and made two great saves.
Second half was only 3-0 to the home side; Downton had a penalty after the home keeper brought down a Downton forward after he had been fed a poor back pass but he saved the effort easily. Baclk to the top of the table for these colts; they'll finish top but how long will this League last? It needs commitment from Wiltshire clubs but for some reason it just isn't happening right now.
