Well I was hoping for the 3G this night and got it .. the game played on one of the middle pitches, having no furniture just dug outs and three crash barriers each side of one goal, located between the all-weather rugby pitch and the caged football pitch (with line of seats both sides) .. and the hockey pitch beyond that .. the real grass of the main Victory Stadium all lit up, with tonight’s track stars doing their laps.

.. and I was interested to see how RN matched up in this one, as a week ago I watched them have a tough night in the Wyvern League Challenge Cup, losing by a fair few to Premier Wyvern League side AFC Portchester Reserves .. so back home it was time to get up and running, which they did pretty quick .. a beautiful flighted freekick on three minutes into top left .. they then got lucky just beyond the half hour mark, as a forward attacked into right side of the area and seemed to end up stubbing his boot into black crumbs .. the ref gave a pen .. the all white gobsmacked .. the ball found left side of net .. although to be honest the score at half time reflected possession and the greater willingness to attack.

Second half the momentum then changed .. helped by a well taken close range shot on 52 minutes .. the visitors going well and taking the game to our hosts but just not able to find their timing of shot .. all nullified on 82, when the lead was extended, as solid header met a right field cross along the six-yard line .. yes all very entertaining .. as we thanked both clubs for this Thanksgiving night of South Coast football .. and with a five minutes stroll home to the warmth of central heating .. to find Mrs hh snoozing on the sofa .. although she'll notice the difference next week, when she returns to colder seats of Fratton Park .. Wink
