Early Years FA Challenge Trophy Can't Post or Reply Privately

I am hoping that someone can provide me with the following missing dates for the rounds of the FA Challenge Trophy
1969 to and including 1986
I shall be obliged for any help even if you only have one date for a round in any one of the above seasons as collectively your contributions will help to provide the information required
I have, I think, all the dates for the remaining years
Thank you in anticipation of your kindness

Re: [Historical] Early Years FA Challenge Trophy [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Rather than start a new thread, I thougt I would tack this question on as the title covers it, too.

In the earlier years of the FA Trophy, and well beyond the 1974 date when the FA Amateur Cup ceased, there did not seem to be a clear dividing line between which clubs could enter the FA Trophy and which the FA Vase. At some point (around 1980 I suspect) this was tidied up, so that only clubs from designated leagues could play in the Trophy (and they were not eligible for the Vase), whilst lower clubs could only play in the Vase - thus largely ending 'pot hunting'.

So my question is - can anyone thrown any light on what the criteria initially were, and when exactly did this get rigidly tied to the leagues / divisions entered by clubs?

Thank you.

Can't give you a full answer but as recently as 93/4 the NPL Division 1 had some of its clubs in the Trophy and some in the Vase. I also vaguely recall that, for a while, clubs promoted into the NPL had a year's grace to carry on in the Vase but can't remember when that was or when it ended. Either way, Farsley Celtic, for example, who'd been members of NPL since the new division was created in 87/8, still entered the Vase every season from then on up to 93/4, while many of their league rivals were in the Trophy.

Some Western League clubs (notably Bideford) played in the Trophy until 92-93, then from 93-94 in the Vase.
