Re: [kirby knitters] Leicester City [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Meanwhile George Hirst, 19 year old Sheffield Wednesday youth team star striker and subject of an approx 2 Million bid from Leicester last August looks to be joining OH Leuven.

No doubt it's purely coincidental that they are a club also owned by the King Power International Group. It appears Wednesday are likely under FIFA/UEFA rules to receive around 159K compensation for their investment in his development. A move to another English club would most probably have involved a substantially higher compensation figure being set by a tribunal.

I suppose Hirst, an England Under20s international and son of Owls star and England international David Hirst, could be setting his sights on a career in the Belgian second tier.

Or maybe in the not too distant future we'll find he's no longer an Owl but a Fox.

Leicester City always find a way around rules. Points deductions for going into administration came in because of their abuse of administration. Maybe this fiddle will lead to another rule change to close the current loophole.

Abuse of administration? Club tried to move players on but they refused because they were on good money. By all means close loopholes but while they exist clubs are doing nothing wrong.

They built a stadium they couldn't afford and got out of paying for all of it by going into administration. Didn't pay the ambulance service either. They reformed with no penalty and have been coining it off the unpaid for stadium and from the premier league, which without administration they would have made, ever since. Bet they haven't paid those who they never paid!

Cheated? Maybe not, did the dirty on others, yes legally, it still smells. The football league changed its rules as the Leicester situation smealt so much of getting rid of debt without trying to pay anyonr.

Personally I think football clubs shouldn't be allowed administration, liquidate them if they can't pay, but if they are allowed administration they should be made to start at step 12 even from the football league / premier league.

Club now own the KPS and people that were owed money were paid out of the TV cash received on getting promotion that season to the Prem. (i believe a 10 point penalty would not have stopped them going up anyway. City had agreed in principle a plan to pay all debts to avoid administration but one party refused it and that was something to do with the odious Dennis Wise.

Further more your post is littered with false statements. (1) reformed? The club never went bust. (2) coining it ever since admin? Games against Southend, Stockport, Walsall were not money spinners in the 3rd tier which the club have played in since those dark days but hey never let the truth get in the way of a good story! I do however totally agree with you on clubs getting hit for taking that route but it has already been sorted at all levels.

Back to George Hirst and the Foxes cunning plan.

We'll wait and see if there's any interest shown by the FA/Premier League/Football League in addressing such dodges. I won't hold my breath. Cool

Locally, it'll be interesting to see whether this saga affects the affection/respect in which David Hirst and Nigel Pearson are held by Owls fans. Up to now they've been icons held in high regard. Hirst in particular hasn't ever had to buy himself a pint.

Interestingly, the downfall of this arrangement could come if both clubs qualify for Europe. I understand OH Leuven were in a Europa league playoff last season (despite being in the second tier) and Leicester were only a couple of league places off of Europe.

One assumes the owners would choose Leicester over OH for Europe, but not sure how happy those fans would be. The two Red Bull teams seemed to get away with it last season, but not sure of the ownership structure.

And I was reminded yesterday with Callum Davidson joining Gary Rowett at Stoke that it was in fact him that was clocked by Dennis Wise and subsequently sacked by the Foxes and he later went on to launch a 2.5m action against the club which I take it he got ziltch because of the administration.Sly

They have just released plans for the new 100m training complex, which incorporates a fully enclosed 499-seat show pitch - with glass roof.

I assume some regulation somewhere means having 500 seats is problem, hence the odd number of seats.

Would have thought Reserves will play on this show pitch.

Not going down very well with some members of Park Hill Golf Club is this one.

Fully expect the stands they erected at Holmes Park to go to Loughborough with them and the earner the County FA were making off LCFC will be coming to an end.

No doubt Mahrez will be gone soon and no doubt the destination will be Man City but this move is dragging on and on and agents are being blamed for the amount of money they are demanding.

Spot on with Evans and needing a new manager by November.

Mahrez has passed a medical at Man City so a rich club is about to become 67m richer.

Awful mate, there were Hammers fans at station when i got off a train a couple of hours ago on about it and i seems to be getting worse the more the story unfolds.

This brings back memories of Matthew Harding. A sad day for football.
