Next. Purportedly Peebles but hard to fit to maps of the area.

Attachment 1 is definitely Peebles, looking from West to East, down the Tweed Valley towards Cardrona and Innerleithen.

I believe these are stills from the BBC serial One of Us. It was supposed to be set in the Highlands but was, in fact, set in and around Peebles.

Having said that, I was convinced at the time that the loch which featured was Loch Tulla, just beyond Bridge of Orchy on the A82. I also thought at the time that some of the road scenes were on the back road running from the Bridge of Orchy Hotel alongside the River Orchy, which is the outflow from Tulla.

Correct on this. Most of the publicity described it thus but was hopelessly vague on a lot of the other locations.

Thanks to Prorege for his confirmation of (1) but I couldn't entirely convince myself from maps and satellite images.

I wonder if this is in the Old Warden area, with Biggleswade in the distance?

I think it's here, on the north-west outskirts of Oxford: https://www.google.co.uk/...,3533m/data=!3m1!1e3

Indeed it is and rather embarrassing that I didn't recognise it given how many times I've driven those roads! I was looking all over Sussex, Hampshire and the Fens for it.

Here's a northern reservoir...

You can't be as embarrassed as me - I live about three miles away from there and still didn't recognise it. I was searching Google Maps in the area between Windsor and Staines... Crazy

I don't think so. I can't see on any maps or photos of the Peak reservoirs that distinctive stretch of road and the semi-circular retaining wall.

The reason I found it was because my first thought was all the water-filled gravel pits to the south of the M4. Then I thought it looked like a pretty big set of ponds, so I zoomed out to see whether I could see any and chanced upon the correct site. I reckon I got it within 90 seconds of starting looking, which was pretty amazing luck.

Re: [Mr. T] Where is this? [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Here's a really tough one. I won't be surprised if this draws a blank. Railway publications and forums have been stumped by it. It's a rather ropey scan of a photo of a station building, probably taken in the late 50s and almost certainly closed. The supports show that there was once a canopy between the gabled wings.

I can offer no clues at all as to where it might be. The architecture looks vaguely Midland Railway 1850/60s. On the extreme left there appears to be a structure behind the building, possibly a gable end with striped/vertical components, that might provide a clue.
