Bob Lord Trophy Can't Post or Reply Privately

A what to put in my stats question!

I was wondering if anyone knew whether the Conference League Cup was officially always the Bob Lord Trophy or whether sponsorship meant it changed it's name completely?

I've seen it in programmes called the McMillan Cup for example but not sure whether that was Bob Lord Trophy sponsored by McMillan type thing in the same way as the Isthmian League has different sponsors but is still Isthmian League.

From my Scarborough FC watching days I only ever remember it being called the Bob Lord Challenge Trophy. Looking on Wikipedia it was called this from it's inception in the 1979/80 season, until it's demise in 2001.

Same competition. It was revived as The Conference Cup for one season (2004/05), then as The Setanda Shield in 2007/08 and 2008/09 before disappearing again.

He was, and I actually met him at the second leg of the first final at Northwich in 1980. I am not sure if the trophy was named after him then, or if it wasn't until after his death the following year, but he must have been getting pretty infirm as he had to be supported to his car by several young women.

Hacked your account again has yoda.

I don't think competitions are ever renamed officially when they're sponsored

All my programmes from 1999-2000 seem to call it the "Nationwide McMillan Trophy" with no mention of Bob Lord at all. So my extreme nerdy tendancies don't know whether to call it NMT in my stats or BLT or even just CLC (Conference League Cup).

I have vague memories of the Kidderminster Harriers v Macclesfield Town final in 1997. Macc chairman Arthur Jones committed suicide via shotgun earlier that season, a topic mentioned more than once during the game.
