Why isn't Narnia playing in CONIFA? It's more real than some of the other teams

Really? Which ones?

No sense of humour, mate?

I have to admit that the sneering attitude towards CONIFA by some people does get under my skin.
Especially as they generally come from a non-nation state that is a member of FIFA.
Does anyone else see the irony?

I can certainly see the irony in a sponsor muscling in on where their WC should be held.

Just one example of many, I suspect, of CONIFA having to perpetually walk a particularly fine line between being/doing something very worthwhile or losing credibility.

No less ironic than a sporting event sponsored by MacDonalds and Coca Cola.

Unlikely to get multinational sponsors operating in China in a CONIFA tournament including Tibet, I suspect.

No.

The "sneering" attitude, as you put it, is an attempt to instil some sense of consistency in their decisions on who to admit. Yorkshire was recently admitted as a member on the basis of them being a linguistic minority (speaking Old Norse!) for example.

Excuse me while I sneer (justifiably).

I can understand why the upcoming Kernow FA game is being played at St.Austell but when other games are played in this country do they tend to get played in the London area.

Iíve just read Forgotten Nations by Chris Deeley. Itís an interesting account of some of the teams playing CONIFA football, and based mainly on the tournament in London. Worth a read for anyone with an interest in the subject.

Yorkshire were admitted on the basis of a survey that showed 54% of people in Yorkshire identify more with Yorkshire than with the UK. CONIFA is all about people who identify more with another entity than with the recognised nation-state they live in.
