I thought it was only being used in the two legs of the Arsenal/Chelsea tie, not the Manchester City/Bristol City tie

The way the League Cup has been handled this season, with the draw fiascos, then i wouldn't be surprised if one tie used VAR and the other tie didn't.

I thought it was only being used in the two legs of the Arsenal/Chelsea tie, not the Manchester City/Bristol City tie

Apparently only PL grounds have the technology in place for VAR, having all the film available for possible review in Uxbridge

So for consistency it's not being used in either leg of the Manchester City/Bristol City tie

Having different rules (in this case the use of extra technology) for some games and not others in the same round does make a bit of a mockery of the competition. In one tie a team could miss out on a place in the final because of technology and in the other a team could miss out on the final because of the lack of the same technology.

Would Crystal Palace have got a replay had VAR not been used and Brighton's winning goal disallowed for handball (it wasn't but the referee could have given it). Would Nott'm Forest 2nd penalty have been disallowed had VAR been used?

If VAR is to be used then making it a level playing field for all ties in that round.

Goal line tech is only used where available

So, for example, it wasn't available at Shrewsbury v West Ham on Sunday but will be available for the replay
