Wasn't sure whether to post it there or in here, as it's currently a topical discussion in the media.

If it gets moved, then no problems.

Why on earth are the sporting media making such a big song and dance about a squad announcement? What's so different about this compared to, say, a football World Cup squad or a touring Ashes squad? I've never heard so much hot air and waffle for such a thing. Are the British Lions tours still that important? Just read the bloody names out and we can all move on with our lives.......

Just turned Talk Sport off as it was getting really boring about a 12-00 announcement re the Squad, only know 2 names from post 1.

Only ever have ShoutSport on if they have a football commentary when 5 Live are on a 606 fans phone in. And only then under sufferance. I'm surprised your brain hasn't melted from being inundated with Betfair odds on the Lions captain/next Prime Minister/2 flies up a wall........

That's the media for you, everything has to have a song and dance about it. Overkill spoils it.

As a self-confessed 'egger' it's interesting to see who has been chosen to represent the Lions and hopefully they will be able to go to New Zealand and do well both on tour and in the test series. I've gone for a 2-1 Lions win in the series, possibly money down the drain but it's all good fun.

Thoughts on the actual squad going:

Looks good but a few surprise inclusions - Te'o, Moriaty, Sinckler and Payne the main ones. Only two Scots make it into the initial squad - I would have thought the Gray brothers and Nel would have been included, possibly Laidlaw as well (if fit to travel).

A bit smug, but I think I got most of the squad right from guesswork Wink

So the first game has come and gone - a 13-7 win for the Lions but already the critics aren't happy (are they ever?)

I don't believe that anybody expected the Lions to play at anything more than second gear today - it would be pointless to overdo it in the first game of a very gruelling schedule especially with the test matches only a few weeks away.

Some very good performances, Faletau's try-saving tackle was sublime and there's reasons to be cheerful. Harder games to come and at least they started on a win rather than a loss.

The 'Oops Moment' of the tour?

Not a good result against the Blues, who were miles away the better team.

Still, it's not as if it hasn't happened before on a Lions Tour, and this may be a blessing in disguise - the Lions pride has been hurt and they will HAVE to respond.

Much better today, and Anthony Watson must now surely be a shoe-in for a starting place v the All Blacks.

12-3 may not seem like a good result, but the Crusaders played a great game and were not going to be an easy side to play.

Owen Farrell is definitely going to start the 1st Test v the All Blacks as well - the man who scored four penalties had a great game, kicked well and was pivotal towards the Lions win.

Maybe this is the turning point?

Another loss, but the performance did not merit defeat and only one point made the significant difference.

A good performance and pity poor Elliott Daly, denied what would have been a match-winning score.

Not as much criticism out for Warren Gatland this time, which is in itself a good result.

On to the New Zealand Maori game on Saturday.

It's to be hoped the slight to the Scottish squad comes back to bite Gatland in the backside.

A great win for Scotland against Australia in Sydney today and the team moves up to 4th in the world rankings.
