Another goes past the post...although
There is an Italian connection in our quarry.

Italian author?

Not an Italian author Ropey. But I understand from further research that much of it was penned in Italy. The author certainly has Italian literary connections.

I stumbled across this novel in Waterstones last week JR ....so I imagine it's readily available. Have seen it on Amazon since.

Another strikes the frame of the goal.....

So just to recap.....

It's a novel, with much of it written in Italy and featuring in part Italian football.
I think it's clear to all who the author is....and as he was quite prolific there's still a few titles available.

A worthwhile read but sadly not the one I plucked from Waterstones shelf.

I'll go for Target Man, the adventures of Tony Cardinale, from the English Third Division to the heights, glamour and demands of Italian football

GOAL !!!!!!!
Probably his most acclaimed work
https://www.faber.co.uk/...-of-gerry-logan.html

The Times Literary Supplement..... http://true concerns are timeless: the game’s ambiguous morality; how its heroes are indulged and patronised; how their energy is betrayed by greed and lack of vision. Nearly 50 years have passed, and there’s not been a better football novel…’

.....over to you mip for the next instalment of this 'fun'Wink
