GB police likely to be at Stanningley

Army play at the rugby stadium not the football stadium although nearby at Aldershot

RAF could be anywhere as should be enclosed ground so may not be able to use Cranwell. They apparantly played at Cosford a few years ago but I was never able to establish this

Valley Cougars could be almost anywhere with Penallta in Ystrad Mynacj as best guess

Waiting to see of any are Sunday with Valley or Loughborough as favourites

Penallta away on the Sat so could be there,
sad it's not an inter league fixture!

GB Police is at Stanningley and also confirmed as a Sunday game. RAF is at Cranwell - if my memory is correct they also played there last season, against Dewsbury Celtic I think.

Does the ground need to be enclosed for the Challenge Cup? Hull University wasn't when I went to for a Challenge Cup tie a couple of years ago.

Nottingham v Blackbrook postponed until the 7th feb. As I believe is the shaw cross match. The university groundsman is very protective of the pitch.

Hard to find info on the challenge cup with little being updated but Lock Lane v Shalston which should be a good game with a good crowd is on

Fev Lions v Queens is off

Everything suggests Loughborough uni v Hunslet is on and will be played on the Highfield pitch which is close to and entry is via the same entrance as the football pitch so heading there 2pm start

Coup'e of crackers there - Kells and Wath Brow both have good chance to turn over professional opposition. Plus 2 all-NCL ties, so will be 4th roiund representation anyway.

Surprisingly for a NCL v League One tie Wath Brow Hornets appear to be entertaining Newcastle Thunder on their own ground - The Club House, CA23 3EW. A shame this doesn't happen more often.

Without the seeding that has plagued the RL Challenge Cup draw in recent seasons, I really thought we might see an amateur team come out on top against one of the semi professional teams this season, and have been genuinely surprised, and a little disappointed, that no one has come close.

The 4th Round draw perhaps throws up one more realistic chance, but if Leigh Miners Rangers cannot beat or at least run Oxford close, I think I will give up on this competition in terms of ever being likely to see a FA Cup style giant killing.

It's much harder (for all sorts of reasons) to get a shock result in either rugby code. As for the Challenge Cup, well, I wouldn't pay to watch a tie involving teams from different tiers of rugby league. Professional versus semi-professional or semi-professional versus amateur = no contest (invariably). Amateur clubs have beaten 'professional' (ie semi-professional) teams more frequently in recent years but it's still an extremely rare happening. I remember when Cawoods (now West Hull) pipped Halifax 9-8, then the game's lame ducks, at Thrum Hall in the 1977 Players No 6 Trophy. In those days, that sort of upset was unheard of. Back then, Halifax were useless: their only win that season was at home to Huyton!

This bear of little brain is confused. Assuming that as the likes of Bradford and Leigh feature in the above draw, the only clubs left to come in are the 12 SL clubs. Add those to the winners of the above ties and we get 24 clubs in the next round, and a problem at some point down the line. Or am I missing something. How does it work going forward?

Andy

From the Super League website:

'The 12 Championship clubs will then enter in Round 4, joining the 12 third round winners (12 ties).
The bottom four Super League teams enter in Round 5, joining the 12 fourth round winners (eight ties).
The top eight Super League teams enter in Round 6, joining the eight fifth round winners (eight ties)'

which all looks like a stitch up by the Super League sides. No danger of the biggest sides meeting each other early on in the competition.

I assumed it had to be some sort of fiddle to make sure the "big" clubs don't waste their time on playing lesser teams.
