The showing of live football should be banned in boozers.

I only go to "quiet" pubs if I really want to watch a game , the bigger pubs have people who don't support either team and talk loudly through the whole thing , stand up in front of screen , and generally be a pain in the arse.
Its often too stressful to bother!!

live football is often the life line for pubs, take champions league night pub may have around extra 30 drinkers in that night,

Its far from a life line if your talking about Sky and the number of pubs in Leicester that now have it backs that up.I go out to meet friends not watch CL football.

Most of the thriving pubs that I go to are thiriving because they look after their beer and their customers and the bulk of them don't show live football. I don't know anyone who goes to the pub specifically to watch football any more.

Not that I go in pubs but I'm told around here by those that do except for "student" type pubs most are near empty on weekday evening's, football or not.
Had a conversation earlier with a friend earlier today he said of the pubs that are still left in this area one is now boarded up and the local "Jockey" has been closed following a drugs raid on Friday night. Most pubs now morph into Flats, Tesco Express's or Mid Counties Co-op's after they have the obligatory fire.

I always used to go down the local Sports Club in Sandhurst to watch the Sunday afternoon games on sky but stopped doing so last season due to the amount of kids running about unchecked, It was nothing new to get a Pool cue up the side of the ear as despite club rules stating the pool tables would be covered when a match was on they seldom were. I have been to local pubs a couple of times to watch matches but there is so much distraction it is difficult to concentrate so I tend to wait and watch the Highlights on MOTD2 on a Sunday night.

often for away trek with Wrexham bus get us there in time to catch the live game, which kills a few hours before kick off,

its more expensve to drink in pubs these days and most elect to stay home on a Saturday night instead.

How is it? It's very expensive to show Sky Sports for pubs - severals times more than it costs the general public for their own home.

I very rarely watch football in pubs, rather watch at home or at pitchside

Virtually never watch football on TV, to think of watching it in a pub makes me doubly horrified.

Oh ..

When the Baggies have a live TV game on a Sunday or Monday I take the 5 minute walk to the local 'spoons specifically to watch it. I never go in there otherwise.

A Gooner I know who is exiled in the midlands is travelling down by train today to watch the FA cup final in a pub near Wembley with fellow gooners, they couldn't get tickets for the game so reckon that's the next best thing

I didn't, I watched Barca v Atletico instead and watched cup final highlights later. Thankfully I've got a few days off otherwise I'd have to suffer unbearable gooners at work tomorrow.
