This may not be everyone's cup of tea but these leagues are ideal for doubling or trebling up if you're not too bothered about dropping to these levels. Mostly church leagues but some unique and great venues to be had

Midland Junior Premier League - one or two unusual grounds here. I've done a couple of U18 games - perfectly watchable, apart from the parents.

So is the Manchester one the only "open" one?

Or are any of the churches ones open to other clubs etc.?

Re: [Richard Rundle] Saturday morning Leagues list [In reply to] Quote | Reply or Reply Privately

Really no idea Richard, one would assume so. I would think they possibly bend the rules a bit, for example there's a team in the Chiltern Churches league called Clean Slate based in Milton Keynes. This is from their facebook page

"Clean Slate FC was founded in 2010 by Darren Turney.
Description
Clean Slate FC is a football team in the Chiltern Churches Leauge Divison 2.
The team is a team of Christian & Non-Christians.
The team is based on a culture of honour, respect and love of the game."

There you have it, a team made up of Christians and non Christians. In other words, if they can join anyone can.

So how "open" are these leagues? Interesting question....

Only just come accross this thread. Can answer re Cotswold Churches League being the manager of one of the teams in it. Membership is restricted to clubs who have the endorsement of the church that they represent. The leadership of the clubs must be christian, but there is no restriction with regard to players, all are welcome. All clubs also must be registered with the Gloucestershire FA, and are subject to their rules and procedures too. Some of our clubs take part in the sat afternoon county cup events. Hope this helps. Most of our games are also 10.30 starts.

Thanks for that Grandad. Just a thought, without delving too much into history, I imagine quite a few leagues at step 7 and below may have started as church leagues many aeons ago, as many local sides were formed out of churches and sunday schools.

East of Scotland Churches FA (Edinburgh and District)

Saturday morning KOs, usually 10 or 10.30. Open age, at least half the players in any team are supposed to have some tenuous connection with the Church they represent.

The Coventry Churches league can be added to this list. Three divisions and plenty of new venues. All games start at 10.30am.

The MFL Under 21 Divisions are Saturday Mornings. Mostly 10.30 a.m. kick offs but one or two clubs vary times by up to an hour so check the club details before going!
