Played Sunday League football last season, after negotiations between the club and the FA? the FA placed them in the ESL. Apparently the first the ESL knew about it was the day before their AGM but had to take them because the FA said so. Will be groundsharing at Clapton FC. All a bit funny if you ask me.

From the official minutes of the ESL AGM:

The Football Association had informed the League on the day prior to the AGM that the National Leagues Committee had approved the application of London Bari FC to be included in the Constitution of the Premier Division. The Chairman explained to the clubs in response to varying questions that this was not really a matter for debate as procedures had changed in relation to the way that clubs could enter our League and this was via application to the FA rather than direct to us. Their election was in accordance with Rule 7.1 coming in from outside the National League System.
A Representative of London Bari FC spoke and answered questions from the floor.
Nevertheless, clubs , in a lengthy discussion expressed their major concern that the F A could , as they felt, impose clubs on us from outside the Pyramid and in accepting that they could not oppose the actions of the FA in recommending London Bari to join us, the Chairman acknowledged the mood of the meeting and clubs asked the League Secretary ( by 15 votes to 3 ) to write to the Football Association of their concerns at this method of adopting clubs from outside the recognised Pyramid,
London Bari FC admission to the League was proposed by Southend Manor FC and seconded by Haringey and Waltham Development FC.

Morning, Rupert! With apologies for the delay in replying (don't get much time for forums these days), London Bari FC is the amalgamation of two Essex Business Houses League sides (Brampton Park FC & Flanders FC) and two Sunday sides (Bari FC and Greengate FC). They were going to be known simply as Bari FC but the FA insisted that they have some reference to their locality so it became London Bari FC.

The AGM statement says they were told this is where the FA had decided to place London Bari, 24 hours before AGM - and not surprisingly the league have voted to complain about what appears to be high handedness.

Whether or not league officials had earlier notice that the FA were considering the application is not mentioned (either way).
It says something about the FA in recent years that people are willing to believe the FA could act without any type of prior consultation

Good point your absolutely correct. I'll admit reading the statement i'd ASSUMED they had no knowledge but of course you are correct, it doesn't say if they were just forced to take them or were in fact aware of the application and were awaitng the FA ruling.
