First one: Northern Ireland v Spain, 14 October 92 (and 12 in!) while I was there as a student.

Quick flick through my tickets gives a current count of 83, though that's every type of international including U-21, U-18 etc and there may be a hnadful I've lost tickets or never got one.

Currently packing to head off to Czech Republic v Liechtenstein in Ceske Budejovice on Tuesday. Also eyeing up San Marino v Finland in June.

I lived in N London in the 80s, and only missed 3 England home games in that period (saw 25 out of 28 played).
First match was 13/10/82 1-2 vs W Germany, Bobby Robson's first home game as England manager.
Last was 3/6/89 3-0 vs Poland (WC Qual)

Saw one U16 match at Wembley (curtain raiser to the FL Centenary match), and one U21 game at Peterborough in 92.

Quite fancy taking in a couple of Olympic matches at Coventry next year, as the prices don't seem too bad, but haven't decided for sure yet.

I have only been to 4 Internationals

1. England 2 v 1 Belgium 1999 Estadio de Luz, Sunderland
2. England 2 v 0 Turkey 2003 Sunderland
3. England 3 v 0 Ukraine 2004 [email protected] james' park
4. England 2 v 0 Azerbaijan 2005 [email protected] james' park

I had a chance to see Northern Ireland in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria in 2007, but I took bad before the game I ended up not leaving my hotel room at all, I had took ill with a bad head and my blood pressure was through the roof as the doc told me it was because I was getting more and more over-excited, doubled up with a lot of Vodka Red Bull it was working against me. all I had to show for it was a black and blue left arsecheek after he give me an injection. oh well i was more worried about missing the game than the state of health and the fact I thought I was having a heart attack, it was devastating

I've been to one full international match.

It was staged in Sheffield, it wasn't an England game, it wasn't a friendly and it wasn't in 1966 or 1996.

Any ideas who and why? Shocked

No doubt you'll only need a couple of minutes to work it out. Tongue

Loads over the years, but not so many of late due to the admission prices, in fact far more Wales games than England.

My first International was England v Poland in 1973.

I went to every home game in England's failed attempt to reach USA94. I had a ticket for the away game v. Holland in the same competition, but the useless company I booked the travel with decided to cancel the trip on the morning of the match. Still livid about that, as I have never seen England play away, and probably now never will. Since then I've only done two - England v. Greece at Old Trafford (with THAT Beckham goal Cool), and England 5-1 Kazakhstan at the new Wembley a couple of years ago.

I was there on the fogged off night but had to work the next night when it was played. Most bizarre international:- Pakistan 0 Kuwait 1 WC qualifier at Jinnah stadium Isalambad in 1988. Kuwait scored after 8 mins then it almost seemed like the score had been prearranged, although thats probably my imagination.Unsure

Re: [leohoenig] international matches you have been to [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Putting England into my search engine, came up with 30 entries, although one was the New England Revolution, so that is 29 England games
11 of these were semi-pro (what is now called the C team), and 3 were age limited - an Under 17 match played at Cheltenham, an Under 20 at Reading, and an Under 21 match in the Toulon tournament played in Arles, (Alan Shearer scored twice).

The first England game was the 1977 game against Scotland at Wembley, and the second, a year later was against Brazil (1-1)
I have seen England play at Ninian Park, Cardiff (won 3-1) and at Hampden (drew 0-0).
Three days after the Scotland-England game, I returned to Hampden to see Brazil beat the Scots 2-0.
I have also seen Brazil beat England at Wembley, Wales at Ninian Park, and Turkey at Ulsun, South Korea.

World Cup Qualifying games
3 at Wembley, 2 of which were 0-0, against Northern Ireland (1985) and Romania (1981), whileSwitzerland lost 2-1 (1980)
2 in Singapore!, a double header in May 1993, Singapore 2-1 Indonesia, followed by North Korea 2-2 Qatar
1 in Pyongyang, North Korea 1-0 Turkmenistan and 1 in Tianjin, China 1-2 Iraq

World Cup finals - 12 games in South Korea (2002) (10 new grounds), and six in Germany (2006) (3 new grounds, and 3 revisits).

Euros.
Qualifying games at Wembley, v Denmark 0-1 (1983), Turkey 1-0 (1991)
Wales v Germany at the National Stadium now rebuilt at Millenium, 1-0 (1991)
Andorra v Belgium, San Marino v Latvia, both 0-1, both 2002

Finals
Norway v Yugoslavia 0-1, Belgium v Turkey 0-2 in 2000.
Russia v Greece 2-1, in Faro, 2004

African Cup of Nations
Tunisia 2004, 8 games, 6 grounds
Egypt 2006, 14 games, 4 grounds
Ghana 2008 - 12 games, four grounds

Arabian Gulf Cup
UAE 2007, 8 games, 3 grounds

Asian Qualifying
2 matches in Malaysia, March 1996, (India lost 7-1 to Indonesia, and 5-2 to Malaysia)

Asian Finals
China 2004, 15 games, 4 grounds
SE Asia 2007, 11 games, 6 grounds, 4 countries
Qatar 2011, 11 games, 4 grounds
- including the finals in 2004/2007

Olympics, Asian Qualifying.
Malaysia 1996, 9 matches, 2 grounds.

Plus a few others!!

Yep, NI v Bulgaria.

As you say, played in Sheffield presumably because NI was a bit too exciting at the time.

But I hadn't realised it was as far back as 1973! I thought it was later in the 70s Tongue

Sadly, no George Best and a rubbish game.

Not many, as internationals aren't really my sort of thing. But for what its worth, I've seen the following:

Wales 0 Soviet Union 0, friendly at Vetch Field, Swansea, February 1987
Wales 1 Yugoslavia 2, friendly at Vetch Field, Swansea, autumn 1987
Wales 2 Finland 2, World Cup qualifier at Vetch Field, Swansea, October 1988
