Champions League draw Can't Post or Reply Privately

Quarter Finals

1 Real Madrid v Tottenham

2 Chelsea v Man Utd

3 Barcelona v Shakhtar Don.

4 Inter Milan v Schalke

Semi Finals

4 v 2

1 v 3

Looks odds on a Barcelona v Real Madrid semi final and therefore just one English team through?

Those will be the betting odds, Barcelona and Real Madrid favourites to reach on semi, and an English team favourites to win the other.

The Europa League quarter finals are
1. Porto v Spartak Moscow
2. Benfica v PSV
3. Villareal v FC Twente
4. SC Braga v Dinamo Kyiv

with semi finals
4v2 and 1v3

My money would be on a Chelsea v Barca final.

I wonder what the odds are on Fergie's least favourite ref Martin Atkinson doing Chelsea v Man Utd??

Man City might still be in the EL if it weren't for the crazy antics of Balotelli!

But didn't the squeaky clean Gary Lineker do the draw? Surely he wouldn't be involved in anything dodgy?

Actually I hope for a Schalke v Shakhtar Donetsk final, they'll be giving tickets away!

Shakhtar and Schalke would be my personal choices. I'd like to see an eastern European side get there for a change.
The Spurs fans on my Facebook page are talking about who they want to play in the semis. Real are cannon fodder it would seem!

Do Schalke have a lot of mega rich fans then? With all due respect to the two clubs I can't imagine too many neutrals paying 150 to 300!

No but they have a lot of fans, they don't have too far to travel and they have enjoyed fairly few successes so I reckon they'll travel in numbers if they reach the final.

And wouldn't they just love to win Champions League in the season where Borussia Dortmund seem to win the German championship!

Is it normal practice to have the quarter and semi final draws at the same time?

It's happened for the last few seasons, as far as I recall.

I think there is also a draw for the final at the same time - this determining the allocation of dressing rooms and which team has to change their kit in case of a clash.

I hate to say it, but I rather hope so! To be fair to a couple of them, I think they get stick from other non-Spurs fans which brings out the worst in them.

I couldn't afford it Barry. But if I could, and seeing as a) it would be a once in a lifetime experience and b) it's easy to say because it'll never happen, then yes. Cool

Yes I think it has been that way for a while although I can't see any logical reason for it.

If Villa got to the European Cup Final again (Don't titter at the back !) I would pay whatever it cost.
In fact I very nearly got into a lot of trouble with the other half earlier this year when the New York Jets got to the Conference final. I told her that if they won and got to the Superbowl I WOULD be going. That would have cost me around 4 Grand Shocked

Tie 4 has been switched after agreement between the two clubs (presumably something to do with 3 ties in Portugal at the same time?) and Dynamo Kyiv will now be at home in the first leg.

Quarter Finals

1 Real Madrid v Tottenham

2 Chelsea v Man Utd

3 Barcelona v Shakhtar Don.

4 Inter Milan v Schalke

Semi Finals

4 v 2

1 v 3

Looks odds on a Barcelona v Real Madrid semi final and therefore just one English team through?

Looks like we know two of the semi finalists now, whilst the result in Madrid didn't greatly suprise me the result in Milan certainly did and Inter are going to have to make lightening strike twice after overturning a home defeat by Bayern Munich in the previous round by winning in Germany but this time they are going to have to score at least four goals, in the unlikely event that they manage it surely it would rank as the best second leg comeback ever?

Just as well they drew each other, otherwise you could have had the possbility of no English Clubs in last 4 (like The Europa League except none reached the last 8 there). Good old Platini, eh?
