Has anyone else applied for tickets? I've gone for football matches at Old Trafford and St James Park (which I haven't ticked yet) and one of the last few days of athletics at the main Olympics Stadium.

I have not looked at them yet - what are the price ranges like? Euro 2012 tickets are also on sale at the moment. I could be trying to spend a lot of money over a year before the events!!

All the events I looked at have tickets for £20 (both the football tickets I applied for were this price) unless there are medals ceremonies (i.e. most of the last few days in the athletics), in which case it was £50. Although the prices were ok, I was surprised (and slightly disappointed) by the small range of stadiums being used (only Wembley, Hampden, the Millenium Stadium, Old Trafford, St James Park and Coventry) - I hadn't previously heard which venues were chosen - I thought it would have been a good chance to really spread the games around and hold matches in many different cities... I hope it won't happen, but I can't see people packing in to watch women's football at the aforementioned grounds (Coventry aside), so it might have been a better idea to use some smaller ones.

Am minded to apply for Badminton and Handball. All pretty dear when you have to pay for Mrs and 3 teenagers. To do this in one sporting day will be £200 at least you get London Transport included. At least they have released Olympia from the list of back up retained venues which means we will be having a Great British Beer Festival in 2012 after all. Expect will have to watch West Ham in Olympic Stadium circa 2016. Or Tottenham (maybe) or Thames Ironworks (very maybe).

They don't seem to want to leave it for athletics, it seems this is too much a minority interest sport to be allowed its own modern stadium. Funny that, I thought that was why it was being built. Somebody's long suffering football fans will be made to suffer.....
