Barclays Premier League! Can't Post or Reply Privately

Are managers paid to say this now? It's rather embarassing how they always get the full title into post match interviews. Owen Coyle seems to have it down to a fine artMad

I doubt they're paid to, but probably instructed to. Does it matter? I think having people use the official, sponsored title in exchange for millions of quid is a pretty good deal. Then again I don't really listen to Barclays Premier League managers in the first place.

It's not just managers. All members of the media do it too.

Thank heavens our manager doesn't have to say 'Koolsport Northern Counties East League, Division One' whenever he talks about a game in the clubhouse!

I have no problem with Barclays getting publicity as they have paid a substantial amount of money, but they tend to include it purposefully and it stands out so much it's embarassing.

You only have to suffer Mr Coyle's drivel for 38 seconds.....

Don't care how many times he mentions Barclays as long as he keeps getting the Whites playing as good football as they've been playing this season!

He doesn't have to, but it wouldn't do any harm.

Especially in these current hard times it's worth making sponsors feel they're getting full value for their sponsorship monies.

Interesting that the Unibond, now the Evo stik League, is very much better known as that rather than as the Northern Premier League.

Unibond had been around for a long time and not changing the sponsored name every season or two. Avoided potential confusion with the Northern League and wasn't as much of a mouthful as some sponsorships. Not too surprising it's stuck.
