I passed the Stella chemical factory today. It's somewhere near Newport. That means it's a Welsh beer

There's a hell of a lot more to this than just Brexit or as others have said more lines would be withdrawn. Always loves publicity does TM and he gets loads of it for all sorts of reasons.

Ventured into the Galashiels Wetherspoons yesterday.

Could complain about the dismal interior, grubby tables and slow service, but I won't. It was 1.89 for a pint.

These places are what they are. Ideal if you want to get pished cheaply.

Tim Martin has been quoted locally as saying he would like to bail out from the Trafford Centre. The Mardi Gras was one of Wetherspoon's highest grossing pubs but intu, the Trafford Centre owners, have been increasing the rent to an extent that he says there would be no profit in it.

No doubt, he is going public to try to enforce a rent negotiation, but I think it also shows how Wetherspoons, like any discounter, are dependent on margins, regardless of how much money they may take in.

Might not even be able to do that at the moment. Some Wetherspoons' are running out of supplies of beer and cider due to the carbon shortageShocked.

They'll soon be offering the modern equivalent of a "penny wring".
Probably a 50p wring these days.

Revisit to the lovely Ice Wharf in Camden Town yesterday before joining the Britain Loves Trump demo in Trafalgar Square. From the sublime to the ridiculous but a very enjoyable day all the same.Cool

Spoons having beedn trying to get premises in 'Leafy Dorking' for some years without success.
They have applied for planning permission to convert three adjoining shops in the centre of Dorking, but this has now been thrown back at them for certain clarifications by the planning department of Mole Valley District Council. So this will now probably take months.
Just look how long it took to get the Meadowbank football-ground re-vamped. Now it's at last go for next season.
Three years in total, I believe at the last count
Breath holding exercises now in progress.

The Stick or Twist in Leeds City Centre could be closing.
There is a planning application in to demolish the building and relace with two blocks of flats!

I had a phone call from a friend this evening telling me that it is closing next Sunday

There was talk about building a replacement spoons near one of the tower blocks should these plans go ahead which they obviously now have done. Should certainly be worth it with the student population in the area.

I think you are correct. I called in today and there is a notice on the Bar "Apologies we are closing on Sunday 5 August. Reopening in September 2020". Presumably on the ground floor of the new 36 storey Tower Block.

With the toilets on the 36th, no doubt.

I hope that there is therefore a disabled lift to them. I find it strange in the Bell Hanger in Chepstow that disabled people have to use a disabled lift to get down to the toilets on the floor below.

I can't remember much about this establishment but surely better than having people that have problems with stairs having to struggle on them unless of course the fit and able loos on ground floor level.

Its an old Cinema, and not bad at all, considering its in Brainfree! Sly

I popped into the Wetherspoons at Braintree on Saturday, after ticking Cressing Road. It wasn't too bad a place at all - housed in the lovely old former-Embassy art-deco 1930s cinema.

And I've just found this, reckoning to list the best and worst Wetherspoons' in Essex (based partly on cleanliness ratings of the kitchens - hint-hint)...

https://www.essexlive.news/...erspoon-pubs-1159330

Listing the best as:

The Battesford Court in Witham

The Windmill at Stansted Airport

Colley Rowe Inn in Collier Row

And the worst as:

Moon On The Square in Basildon

The Elms in Leigh -On-Sea

The William Aylmer in Harlow

The Lord Denman in Dagenham
