OK. For most of the Wembley finals in the 20th century, what community activity preceded the match ? And which single item in that activity was the crowd's favourite ?

G: "Abide with me" wasn't included in the community singing in 1959.

That's correct. But for the full credit, what E/O took its place ?

The omission of community singing and Abide With Me can't be considered an event/occurrence. An omission of anything is something that didn't happen. What I'm after is what DID take place.

See above. Now this is a free for all. Don't worry about timing your questions or having 1 shot per day. I think we're done with this one. So even if you've had a go today, keep trying. We need to finish this tonight, as I have limited time over the next few days.

I like that guess, but no. But "sport" is a clue.

Looks like its between Jamesie, Paul66 and Mip. Everyone tired or asleep.

Please clarify "see above" - have we already established whether it was either a song or piece of music that replaced "Abide with me"?

Sorry if I wasn't clear, but as far as I can tell, the community singing was dropped in its entirety, including the favourite Abide With Me, so it wasn't just the 1 song that was scrapped. In place of the singalong was something else. And following this E/O there was so much outcry that singing and Abide With me were reintroduced. So - what's the E/O ?

That's it, at last.

The National Keep Fit Association was invited to put on a demo in place of the singing, as it was felt keeping fit was an important activity in 1959 (go figure). So a group of 80 ladies, from COVENTRY no less, clad in mustard-coloured outfits, performed a keepfit routine.

I think that settles it then Mip, with that added YouTube submission. You are the winner.

You are probably all thinking, Jeez, what's with this guy (me). What a weirdo to pick that E/O.
