So just to clarify the map element we are down to -
Belgium, Bosnia, Croatia, Denmark, Faroes, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland & Italy
This ignores other non-georgraphical factors in the above questions.

Does the country begin with B-F?

Yep

Does the club name begin with letters A-L?

Early guess as I will probably be on my way back from Wales when it's shots in!

G: Slaven Belupo, first Croatian team to compete in European club competition via the Intertoto Cup

Club name does begin with one of A-L.... so not Slaven Belupo

Just for clarification Paul - would you include initials as part of name eg AS Roma under A rather than R for Roma?

Fair point, Paddy. I think some initials are more widely used for some clubs than others so I'm going with the first letter of the club's name as it appears on Wikipedia. As a freebie, I don't think this is an issue for the club I'm seeking (....though I stand to be corrected on that) but, as I say, refer to wiki before guessing if in doubt.

G) Aalborg BK or alternative name AaB

On the basis that if you ground hopped all the european club grounds alphabetically A-Z this would probably be the first club/ground you would visit

Q: Have you chosen this club - at least partially - because it holds some sort of record?

By the way... In Swedish it's "┼lborg", not Aalborg, and "┼" comes after "Z". Wink

Yes Lars.... but only partially and it's not a very widely known record.

Cut off any legs today? WinkSly

Oh, I see the basis for another ambiguity entry here Wink. In Danish ┼ and Aa is the same letter and the last letter in the alphabet. It is pronounced roughly like the vowel sound in "oh". The "┼" was introduced in 1948 but many cities and towns retain the old spelling.

I was once searching for a word starting with IJ in a Dutch dictionary. IJ is listed together with Y. In Icelandic Th is only one letter and Yu in Russian I believe. Many others I don't know or remember. Good that IJsselmeervogels and Throttur aren't the answer.

Quiz night and I don't reckon this will still be "live" when I fall through the door later so the early guess is :

Club Brugge (FC Bruges). Most consecutive appearances in UEFA Cup

T'pau, Pat - the country does not begin with either B or F.

Any guesses yet? Wink

Seeing as I've had the okay from mip that Aarhus Gymnastikforening does not begin with ┼ - I'm going there. AGF? No idea why though...Unsure

Aarhus Gymnastikforening does begin with an ┼ but the abbreviation is with an A (and not ┼ or Aa) and hence OK for the quiz. That's what I tried to say, I think. I really couldn't come up with anything unusual/record-like for the Danish clubs. That's why I chose Hajduk Pirate.

It's actually less than that John. Not saying how many though, but the UEFA qualification and sub-300,000 population clears a couple off.

Had not yet factored those elements in

Populations are always a moot point

Big debate about Istanbul in a quiz recently

Depended what area was included
