Chris, you've indicated that this event/occurrence "is European" and does involve something that is Swedish, Norwegian, Finlandish or Danish, but happened west of Gothenburg....

So, for clarification, are we saying that this happened in Europe, though not necessarily in Scandinavia? If we're not saying that, I'll have a different question later but if we are saying that:

Q: Did this happen in UK?

Hmm. We've established that this is something European, though not necessarily (yet) a location in Europe. Maybe its a match played by two Danish club sides in the USA...or is that stretching the pedant too far ? A thought just struck me. Here I am giving Lars, Mip or Jamesie suggestions on future 20Q's; a friendly match played between 2 European club sides, in the USA...now that's unusual, right ?

And west of Goteborg still leaves a whole load of Denmark & Norway to choose from too.

As I type, there's the pending question of a UK location (or not), so I'll go a different track on this one.

Q: Did this E/O happen during a match played as part of a UEFA club competition ?

And here was me thinking that the cool breeze where I am had brought the temperature down to an unseasonal 82F...

Though I'll be back in sunny (?) UK in 2 weeks time.

Look forward to you Joining the 20q quiz on a regular basis if that is the case MP.

Unfortunately or fortunately, I'll be off on another overseas posting (and the cost of stamps will be horrendous) just over a week later, probably for 3-4 months. So, looking or posting once or twice a day, online for 30 minutes will be my max.

Paul, this is well picked up on. I am not going to answer your question in bold specificly but as you say the event could have happened in the rest of Europe but not necessarily in Scandinavia.

No it did not happen in the UK

No TP, this event happened after 1.1.1995 see earlier post. As you are new to the game You can have another guess. Remember you can ask a question also ?

It's quiz night so an early guess at Eldar Hadzimehmedovic scoring 6 goals for Lyn Oslo at NSI Runavik in the Faeroes in August 2003, being the most scored by any one player in a UEFA competitive game. Apparently he was substituted after 70 minutes............

Good question.

No this event/occurence did not happen in a country that has a mediteranean/adriatic coastline.

edit: I will add to that and offer further help as I misread your question and say it did not happen on an island in the mediterranen also.

Quick recap on this to find out whats been established.

We are looking for an event/occurence that happened in a uefa club match after 1.1.1995. one of the clubs involved in this occurence/event was from Norway.
It was played west of Gothenburg, not in the UK, in scandinavia or a meditteranean country.

Have two to choose from so...

... goes for Drogheda v Start IK in the 2006/07 UEFA Cup - Start won 11-10 on penalties (might be the highest penalty score in a European Cup game) and luckless Graham Gartland missed twice for Drogheda.

Well, that was one of my shortlist of two, so I'll use my other guess....

G: Luxembourg minnows Kaerjeng's defeat of Lillestrom in the 2007 UEFA Cup.

Probably not unique as there have been thousands of games played worldwide over the years, but it was certainly a rare/unusual event.

WINNER ! WINNER ! WINNER !

Yes the e/o that I chose was the 2 unfortunate penalty misses by Graham Gartland in the penalty shootout from the above uefa cup game between Drogheda And Start IK in 2006. I think that this may have been the first time this has happened in a major match. Must have been an awful experience for the guy.

Great youtube link from the game

Thought that one was gonna last a bit longer but Well played MIP
