Hi, wondering if you lot can help, i'm trying to find out where the following teams played, (they all used to play in the NCEL in the 80's) Wombwell Sports Association Fryston Colliery Welfare Immingham Town Frecheville CA Collingham And where did Sheffield FC play in 1986/87? and I take it Staveley played at inkersall road. Any help would be welcomed

Seem to remember that Fryston played at Askham Road. The ground had an area of covered standing and a rugby pitch next door. Collingham played at Harewood Road, I seem to remember this ground as being rather cold and windswept.
Total Grounds- 1355 (10). Grounds this season- 35. Latest New ground -Wibbandune Ground, Colliers Wood United. Rugby Union grounds-7. Latest-Twickenham.

Wombwell Town - Station Road. Frechville CA - Silkstone Road. They still play there! Collingham - Harewood Road. Still used

Immingham Town played at Woodlands Avenue. As far as I am aware there is not a lot left of the ground anymore, but Grimsby Borough are hoping to re-build on the site and play there in the future.

I wouldn't swear to it for 86 but around that time they did play at Don Valley Stadium. They also had a spell at Owlerton Stadium which was essentially a speedway track but I'm not sure of the actual date.

I visited the Abbeydale Park ground in 1985 and saw Sheffield playing there in season 1985/86. But my records also show Wombwell playing in the Dorothy Hynam Stadium in Wombwell; is that the same ground in Station Road?

Wombwell Main play at the cricket ground in Windmill Road. Garforth Town is new. They previously played at Brierlands Lane which is now under a housing estate. Crookes played at the Aurora Sports Club, Bawtry Road, Brinsworth, Rotherham. I think it is mainly used for hockey now.

Sheffield FC played 1987-8 season at Abbeydale. I went on 13/5/88 because it was rumoured that they were about to move - but I suspect it was a flase alarm and they may have played 88-9 there as well.

Hi Are you sure you want Eastwood Hanley? They are (were) Stoke on Trent based, down by the side of the closed Leek railway line! Perhaps Eastwood Town (Notts) were once in the NCEL. A common mistake to think they were from the same town, especially as both ended up in the NPL1 in the 80s! In EH, the town part was Hanley - not sure where the Eastwood fitted in. Cheers
