The club released an official statement yesterday. https://www.google.co.uk/...mp/football/48668821 I guess in football things can turn around quickly if there’s the will.

Still under contract and unable to agree terms but he never left the club. I had to read the statement the BBC put out a couple of times as it didn't make much sense.

Still under contract and unable to agree terms but he never left the club. I had to read the statement the BBC put out a couple of times as it didn't make much sense.

There's been a certain amount of hilarity about this on social media today. It seems Bowyer thought he was involved in a routine discussion to increase his salary to one in line with what managers typically get in the Championship, and was bemused when the club announced things had broken down.

Given that fans' opinion of the owner couldn't really get any lower, it's unlikely that it was fan reaction which caused the club to think again. Perhaps the long-running takeover saga is finally nearing an end and a prospective buyer read the riot act to Roland.

He spoke very frankly on the pitch after the Sunderland game and knew exactly what the situation was so yes I buy the prospective new owner getting involved. Dreadful what the fans have had to put up with.

I know one vacancy that’s coming up, that he’s definitely not wanted by any of the fans. If for any reason he was appointed, then expect a lot of returned season tickets

The fans are pretty angry with the media show going on at the moment & the lack of respect towards the club. Especially when ex-Chelsea players & relatives of the manager are saying that he’s already gone or going & no official approach. Especially when that manager was given his first managerial opportunity & is loved by the fans.

I personally think it’s an upgrade. It’s like losing £5 & finding £20. Cocu did an excellent job at PSV Eindhoven & hopefully he’ll bring some quality young Dutch players over with him(that don’t cost EFL prices). He seemed to have been screwed over at Fenerbahce & it all went wrong for him. Mel Morris will allow him to build the club from the juniors through to the first team.

Grant McCann leaves Doncaster Rovers for Hull City Frown

Replaced by former WBA boss Darren Moore.

Darren was liked when he played for Doncaster and he has good managerial experience at a higher level. I'm always a bit weary of players/managers going back to a club, it doesn't always go well, I hope this return does go well.

With the squad he's taken on from last season, I will be expecting at least a play off place. The team needs a few tweaks, especially in defence, so hopefully Darren has some good contacts/mates in the PL and he can get some loan deals.

Four promotions to the top flight and an ability to keep relatively mediocre clubs competitive at that level, taking one of them to a cup final and into Europe. I bet Birmingham, Wigan, Sunderland and Hull wouldn't mind turning the clock back to his tenure with them.

Just a shame that this is now the level of Newcastle's ambition - survival and, if that fails, half a chance of getting back at the first time of asking.

Quote
Historically, Bruce is more likely to quit a job than be fired, with his exit from the Black Cats one of only three times he has experienced the sack - the other two occasions being at Huddersfield, his second club, in October 2000 and, 18 years later, Aston Villa.

He resigned at seven of his other clubs and on four of those occasions Bruce was named manager of another team within a week of leaving his previous employment.

Much as it pains me to say it, I thought he did a great job there.
I also think another season would have been better for his CV before applying for something higher, otherwise he may get the reputation of someone who doesn't stay long at places (remember Notts County too).
I wonder what's caused this? Has Macc's situation got worse, has he had a better offer? Time will tell.

As ever with these situations, you do wonder if he was only four games away from the sack, why he was given the whole summer with the players?

Happens every year and I never understand it.

Very unfair sacking as well, he should have been given more time, especially when the new chairman and Jan kept on talking about having a three transfer window transition to get the squad to their liking.

I supported Jan since the day he arrived, it wasn’t the easiest first few months for him last season but I was confident he would turn it round this season and get into the top half of the table.

As for his successor, I don’t know who will replace him to be honest. There is one manager I would like, but he has just started a new job in the Bundesliga.

As a club they're arguably a good fit with the Cowleys but there's an awful lot of work needed to reshape and turn that squad around. Their impact at Lincoln was pretty immediate and they'll need that again.

Isn’t tittle tattle exactly what a forum is for?

Windy was quoting Sky Sports, not ‘my mate down the pub,’ so fully entitled to post on here.

If we didn’t indulge ourself in tittle tattle, the restructuring section would be quiet for 11 months of the year.

At least he's got time for the court case tomorrow now. The owners didn't like the truth that Barnsley aren't good enough for the Championship with the players they bought

I’m sure any information released by Talksport, SkySports or any of the numerous sports journalists classify as ‘news’. So there’s a massive difference between news & actually being sacked. I’m sure if you check every seasons ‘Parting Company’ threads, you’ll be able to see posts with x,y or z manager/coach is just about to be sacked or his job’s on the line & posted by members other than me. These posts just come across as incredibly pedantic!
