The original yes was in response to Derry City having 2 games in the same draw. So I will stick with no to the original yes.

Because it would be far better if people looked themselves, they may get in the habit. Whatever you may think of me I can search for things and find out things myself.

Sure the poster would have looked it up when he was told neither of the names used were correct.

But if he's anything like you he would have come up with the wrong answer. So perhaps it's not such a good idea of mine if people like you cannot do the simplest of tasks.

Just a heads up that TNS v FC Midtjylland in the Europa League 3rd qualifying round 1st leg next Thursday is being played at the Cardiff City Stadium, kick-off 7.45pm.

This might be a good, cheap way for someone to do the ground. Tickets are only £5

If you're coming, Cardiff City centre is likely to be busy. Not only is the International Eisteddfod on in the capital, mostly around the Bay area, but in the afternoon / early evening there will be a celebration homecoming for Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas.

Thanks to their aggregate win against Lincoln Red Imps TNS have now picked up 1 million and 80 thousand euros this season.

Northern Ireland are now in the bottom 4 and will only have 2 EL places in 2 years time 20-21 while the champions play in the CL preliminary round with San Marino Andorra and Kosovo.

All of which will ensure that the league is even less competitive next year.

Not their fault though - they're just playing the UEFA game rather well.

If you're coming, Cardiff City centre is likely to be busy. Not only is the International Eisteddfod on in the capital, mostly around the Bay area, but in the afternoon / early evening there will be a celebration homecoming for Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas.

Why are TNS playing this game at Cardiff? Doesn't Wrexham have the required grading to host European games?

Been explained elsewhere after I asked the very same question naming Wrexham as a potential venue. Something to do with not being able to come up with a financial package was the reply I think.

Requirements are

Category 2 for the preliminary round, first and second qualifying rounds;
Category 3 for the third qualifying round and play-offs;
Category 4 from the group stage to the semi-finals.

incidentally, the stock cars are leaving The Showgrounds

The coefficient is performances in Europe over 5 seasons, and as TNS have qualified for the Champions League every time, they've managed to accumulate more points than Rangers achieved in their two seasons in Europe. Should get back to 'normal' by next season if Rangers win their 1st Qualifying Round.

This website gives a breakdown of club coefficients (including points for this season) into their seperate seasons, Rangers are 149th and TNS are 147th.

Was planning on going to that game with a Killie-supporting mate (and would be happy to pay the cost) but the 7pm kick off rules out darting straight from work and I wouldn’t fancy the chances of a ticket anyway.

I'm surprised CQN didn't take a punt on hiring the Racecourse Ground, assuming it was ready and available. Certainly Wrexham have a PSF v Stoke City on 17th July.

The Racecourse pitch got reseeded but due to the weather a few weeks ago the pitch is not ready.

With matches like these probably costing more money to stage than they make, irrespective of what UEFA say, I'd be surprised if they really want clubs of this size the competition at all.

Could they not have tried to play the tie at Chester's Deva Stadium, which is partly in Wales and closer to Connah's Quay than Rhyl or Wrexham?

Indeed. But CQN have a very poor home attendance record in all competitons, includingEuropean ties. Home to HK Helsinki (which they won!)a few years back the gate was under 500, Only once that I can find have they ever hosted a four figure gate: v Edinburgh City in the Irn Bru.

No wonder Killie have over half the ticket allocation. Could be a good game too, today's 0-0 friendly v Aberdeen shows they won't be a walkover. And travelling to Scotland for the away leg will seem almost routine after their Irn Bru successes.

Cardiff Met 2 Progres Niedercorn 1 (agg 2-2: Niedercorn win on away goals)Cliftonville 4 Barry Town United 0 (agg 4-0)Runavik 0 Ballymena United 0 (agg 2-0 to Ballymena)
Progres Niedercorn (?Niederkorn) next play Cork City and are the Luxembourg side which dumped out Rangers 2-0 on aggregate in 2017. So Cardiff Met have not done badly at all! Maybe the Euro rating of TNS higher than Rangers wasn't so surprising after all!
Next round sees CQN v Killie, all logic suggests a Killie walkover but.......

And I see the UEFA ratings have now been revised to reflect the Europa Preliminary Round results.

https://kassiesa.net/uefa/data/method5/trank2020.html

Niederkorn (=235) are now rated above Kilmarnock (=244), and level with the likes of Torpedo Kutaisi, Dinamo Tbilisi and Buducnost Pudgorica.

Tuesday:
1845 FK Sarajevo (Bosnia) 4.250 v Celtic 31.000 (2nd leg 17th 1945)

1945 Dundalk 7.000 v Riga FC (Latvia) 1.125 (2nd leg 17th 1730)

EL Q1 (11 & 18 July unless stated)
Tuesday 9th 1655 St Josephs (Gibraltar) 0.800 v The Rangers 5.250
1800 Malmo (Sweden) 20.000 v Ballymena United
1900 Connah's Quay Nomads 1.750 v Kilmarnock 4.425 - at Rhyll
1900 SK Brann Bergen (Norway) 4.040 v Shamrock Rovers 2.250
1800 Crusaders 4.250 v B36 Torshavn (Faroes) 3.000
1945 Cork City 3.750 v Progres Niederkorn (Luxembourg) 2.750
1945 Cliftonville 2.500 v FK Haugesund (Norway) 4.040
1945 St Pat's Athletic 1.750 v IFK Norkoping (Sweden) 4.180
1945 Aberdeen 5.500 v RoPS Rovaniemi (Finland) 1.455

Was toying with hopping over from my week in Scotland for Ballymena United v Malmo plus Derry City v Sligo Rovers on Friday but frightened off by the cost of the Stranraer ferry - over £300 to take my car across and back. Don't know if it's always this expensive or whether they have hiked up the prices for the Open golf at Potrush that weekendMad.
Tickets (£15/£10 concession) went on sale Monday evening between 1830 and 2030 in Ballymena's club shop and they anticipate this game will be a sell out - the club have already received numerous enquiries from across Europe. If there are any remaining tickets following Monday night, an announcement will be made on where and when they can be purchased.

And some interesting bits to those results
In CL TNS let slip a 2-0 lead in the dying minutes, so now have it all to do in Kosovo. They must either win or draw 3-3 or higher. Hmm.

In EL it's similarly a splendid effort by Connah's Quay who went 1-0 up with about 10 minutes to go , but couldn't quite hold out to the end. How many'll they take to Rugby Park I wonder? And a huge result for Shamrock Rovers. Brann are a quality Norwegian side, not far behind Rosenborg. And Progres Niederkorn! Underdogs on paper but they've got to be odds on to win through now, in which case who awaits but Rangers who they knocked out in 2017. Who says lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place?

Nor I reckon did hardly anyone except maybe Andy Morrison. Bookies had Killie odds on 1-200. And on top of TNS winning in Kosovo this should put the Welsh Premier League well on the map.

Further post on all results tomorrow,

What odds now on who to win the Irn Bru in 19/20? The Nomads must by now regarding Scotland as their second home: their average gate in Scotland being I reckon twice what it is Wales.......

That would be something else if TNS can get past the Danish Champions A big ask but not impossible, Feronikeli's ranking belies them and is because Kosovo having to start from scratch having been prior part of Serbia with the likes of Red Star and Partizan Belgrade.

TNS's win was in that league. Maybe not quite as impressive as the Nomads over Kilmarnock., but a good second, equal to Shamrock's win over Brann Bergen Norwegian League is on paper much stronger than Welsh or Irish or League of Ireland (witness Rosenborg).

I shall watch out for the Nomads v Partizan with great interest. Surely they can't, can they? About as likely as Leicester City winning the English Premiership...............

TNS's win was in that league. .

That's akin to saying Cheltenham play with the likes of Man City and Liverpool.
Feronikeli have no European or top flight history so their ranking is about right for now.

The reason Feronikeli and other Kosovo clubs have minimal UEFA rankings is because it was only two seasons ago they were admitted by UEFA. Before that they still had their own league broken away from Serbia several years prior (?1990) but not UEFA recognised. Before that they plated in the Serbian, but due to many changes of names (including Feronikeli's) and other circumstances it is not easy to ascertain which clubs in the then Serbian top flight were in what is now Kosovo. However I can scarcely believe that none did: being all part of the former Yugoslavia. The tragic political conflict in the area has somewhat relegated football there to a back seat, but I am sure it will recover. I don't see Kosovo staying in the bottom four very much longer: one more year as max.

On the contrary, it is very easy to find out that FC Prishtina and FK Trepca played in the Yugoslav top league. The former are in the Kosovo premier, the latter in a Serb regional league as they came from the Serb quarter of Mitrovica. After Kosovo's split, a new club, KF Trepca play in the second tier in Kosovo having taken over the former ground of the Serb club.
No sign of Feronikeli which was founded in 1974 and thus have no top flight history and no European experience until this season thus they will inevitably have a low ranking. They may well improve as time goes on but don't be fooled by the relative strength of the Kosovo national team who are almost exclusively made up of players from outside the domestic league.
I therefore don't think it was too much of a shock that they were eliminated by TNS who in the last five European seasons (to date) have won 8, drawn 4 and lost 8 European games

It is not that simple, because of the political situation and and the political and military conflict with Serbia. Most of Kosovo is ethnically Albanian so even though Kosovo was not admitted till 2 years ago the majority of the Kosovo clubs boycotted the Serbian League for political reasons, not unconnected with the Serbian war ciminal Slobodan Milesovicz. Pristina and Trepca were exceptions: Trepca being as you say ethnically Serb, Pristina being the capital mainly ethnically Albanian yet with a substantial Serb minority there. Trepca now playing in Serbian League is faintly analagous to Derry City playing in the League of Ireland.

So Kosovo clubs cannot be judged by the normal yardstick and will inevitably have coefficients substantially below their real worth until they can acquire a rating based on five years participation.

As for prior, I have yet to find a full playing record of Feronikeli from foundation to present day anywhere at all. Perhaps if anyone has they can send me the link.

Good some of them made it. As gleefully pointed out on Pie & Bovril shortly after Nomads' victory, there'd been a thread on the Killie fans' forum with dozens of chicken-counters posting their travel plans for Belgrade over the preceding month. The idea of being KO'd by Nomads simply didn't occur to them. Then, on page 18, the mood changed..

But it will be just the one season with a reduced Europa League quota:

Magnificent performance from Linfield tonight, and NI will soon be back to four places.

Here's hoping we can finish the job in Belfast? I quite fancy a trip to Cyprus, although that probably would be a step too far. Still, we've exceeded my expectations already.

Although the Belfast Telegraph newspaper article is basically correct my understanding is country 55 increases from 2 to 3 and 51 decreases from 4 to 3. This I assume is from 21-22 and is shown on the UEFA site after their last meeting.
I would assume Northern Ireland could pick up points from the last Europa League Preliminary Round and CL Preliminary Round
The CL could even be played in Belfast.

What a result for Linfield! Actually gutted at conceding the late penalty, but who I am kidding? I would have bitten your hand off for even a draw before kick off.

Ranked higher than Milan are Qarabag FK apparently so yes a stunner. What was the crowd? Looked on the Linfield site to no avail.

Probably about 5,000, maybe slightly more. We are punching well above our weight. No doubt we'll get pumped in Baku, but I can dream for another week.

Prize money not on the same planet as the CL but whatever it is will doubtless come in handy though next week will not be a cheap one for the clubs or any fans that make the trip. Good luck.

Just the small matter of 5,500kn each way. I did think about it but getting time off work is nigh on impossible at present.
Here's to the group stages Wink

Beat the number of fans that Wolves took to Yerevan (48) a couple of weeks ago and it will be some achievement. £1 to get in and £1000 for flights etc.

No chance. IO checked today and it was £884, but I would need four days off work. I wish we could draw TNS one year, just for a simple, and winnable trip.

Rangers have become the first Scottish club to have a partial ground closure ordered by UEFA since the 1980s.

Rangers must close 3000 home area seats for Thursday's sell-out game against Legia Warsaw. This is as a consequence of sectarian singing and chanting at the First Qualifying Round tie against St Josephs of Gibraltar.

UEFA are finally doing what the SFA should have done decades ago.

A full stadium closure is the next sanction.

Hopefully this will put an end to the sectarian bile that poisons the atnosphere at Ibrox on all too frequent basis.
