Re: [kirby knitters] THE Rangers FC [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Amazing how dispassionately this is all reported on the mainstream media, as if its normal for a manager to get a pay rise for resigning. The issue does even appear to have split Rangers fans. From what I see on social media (I know thats not reliable, but still an indicator), most of them seem to see him as some kind of saviour figure while the rest of us look at the numbers and the money he has made out of all this and just shake our heads..

I still think Hibs' achievement is the greater though. They've managed to get stuck in the 1st Division without going bust, in fact while having money in the bank!

Hilarious, especially "Twice in a Lifetime " and Let's all laugh at Sevco this Xmas."

Some of the other files appearing at the same time are quite interesting as well. For example Alex Thomson's report on threats and intimidation, which I must have missed when it was shown on Channel 4 News

McCoist leaving is one thing but what's the reasoning with that appointment?

I think he's currently the assistant manager.

Didn't realise he was already at Ibrox so it makes sense financially.I had visions of the NI boys staying away as with the MoJo days.

In keeping with the time of year, it seems to have been a total pantomime. For starters, the AGM was held in Ibrox itself, with the shareholders accommodated in the away section and the Board in a gazebo.

Somers, the chairman, delivered an address attacking the media and "Scottish football establishment" for hampering Rangers recovery. From the quotes coming out - it seems a lot of the answers to subsequent questions basically stuck 2 fingers up at the Rangers support.

Finally, a proposal to offer shares - or loans against securities - to existing investors was approved. Request to allow new investors was defeated.

Rangers allegedly need as much as £8M to finish the season.

And THAT result at Hibernian 0-4 this weekend is Rangers worst since 27th August 2000 when they lost 2-6 to Martin O'Neills Celtic at Parkhead but the significance here is that Kenny McDowell was the reserve team coach at Parkhead at the time and Alan Stubbs, the Hibernian Manager was playing for Celtic . Its a funny old game !!!

Today's Scotland on Sunday quotes updated figures and dates - Rangers must find £8.3M before April Fool's Day to avoid "financial meltdown".

Haha. Maybe a sense of humour? THE Rangers are now lurching seemingly towards another points reduction unless the mystery buyer of one groups shares is some new saviour. We can debate whether the BBC had it right that it would be 25 points as a second offence or 15 as the New Clubs first? Either way its at last looking better for Hibs.

Rangers short-term financial woes... the £8M+ needed at the end of March... may be resolved by the offer of investment from 3 businessmen called George Letham, George Taylor and Douglas Park. They had offered £6.5M for new shares, and Letham has just bought 16% of the existing shares from Laxey Partners, who oppose Mike Ashley.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/.../0/football/30644025

Some of these men were involved in a group known as the "Blue Knights" - who danced around ideas of buying Rangers when they went into administration and liquidation, but never actually made an offer which was considered seriously by the administrators/liquidators, with some suspicions that they never intended to. Letham, Taylor and Park are being dubbed "the Three Bears".

Rangers have also just sold Lewis Macleod, generally considered to be their best youngster, to Brentford for a figure quoted at as much as £1M.

If you want to illustrate the diminished status of Rangers in one event or action, it may well be the above... the former giants of Scottish football, 'fire-selling' talent to a club like Brentford who are traditionally English 3rd or 4th tier material.

That was my first thought of club the size of Gers selling one of the best players they have to Brentford but more worrying McCloud seemingly having no problem leaving. An absolute disgrace whats happening at Ibrox and with people in charge saying they are prepared to run the club with no support then the end is nigh yet again for the biggest club in Scotland.
