Like I've said, I would appreciate if we change the deadline from midnight to e.g. 22:00, for sleeping reasons. I know Paull66 is for the change, (with the exception of Saturdays, which is OK by me too). Most crucial moments here are usually around midnight UK time, which means 1 AM here, and that's a bit too late to stay up jobwise, etc. I think most of us would benefit from having an earlier deadline. G: FC Barcelona, best club in best European country (Spain), and reigning Champion League champions.

So just to clarify the map element we are down to - Belgium, Bosnia, Croatia, Denmark, Faroes, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland & Italy This ignores other non-georgraphical factors in the above questions. Does the country begin with B-F?

Does the club name begin with letters A-L? Early guess as I will probably be on my way back from Wales when it's shots in! G: Slaven Belupo, first Croatian team to compete in European club competition via the Intertoto Cup Club name does begin with one of A-L.... so not Slaven Belupo Just for clarification Paul - would you include initials as part of name eg AS Roma under A rather than R for Roma? Fair point, Paddy. I think some initials are more widely used for some clubs than others so I'm going with the first letter of the club's name as it appears on Wikipedia. As a freebie, I don't think this is an issue for the club I'm seeking (....though I stand to be corrected on that) but, as I say, refer to wiki before guessing if in doubt.

Oh, I see the basis for another ambiguity entry here . In Danish Å and Aa is the same letter and the last letter in the alphabet. It is pronounced roughly like the vowel sound in "oh". The "Å" was introduced in 1948 but many cities and towns retain the old spelling. I was once searching for a word starting with IJ in a Dutch dictionary. IJ is listed together with Y. In Icelandic Th is only one letter and Yu in Russian I believe. Many others I don't know or remember. Good that IJsselmeervogels and Throttur aren't the answer. True - but I'll keep them in mind as guesses for when you're next Quizmaster

I think another one for Chris and the ambiguities panel. Without getting Sarumio involved (he likes those geography things) the point of reference should be good ol' wiki again. Even though it is as reliable as (insert unreliable thing here) when it is on the blink.

A little reminder. This one is set for a midnight scramble - unless someone who hasn't guessed sneeks in and gets the winner - so be aware of the strict rules that still exists regarding post times. Effectively the first correct guess with a post date stamped 11 March wins. Anyone who is trigger happy and posts on 10 March is disqualified. Everyone okay with that? And are you available at that time Paul?

Just to confirm. Most Croatian clubs starts with "NK", which should exclude them, right? Q: Is it Bröndby IF? Lars, if the Croatian clubs start with "NK" on wikipedia then they are excluded as they do not fall within A-L. And the answer is not Bröndby IF Oh, then the answer I was pretty confident about isn't right. I think this name thing is really a bit muddled. For example would FC København count as an "F" or a "K" or even "C" as in Copenhagen. Brøndby are from Copenhagen so I had counted that out because of the 300,000 limit.

Dangerous question that Lars. If he says yes, it gives someone else a scramble for the tap in. Oh, my nerves... My hands were shaking! Well, perhaps you will do the tap in..? (If Bröndby had been correct, I had the guess written and just had to push "Post reply".) Anyway, you should give me some sort of trophy for being THE worst guesser forever... I seem to always pick the wrong ones. Actually, I think it started when you chose the worse team in the 2nd worst football country, instead of Historical's FC! By the way... you probably felt relieved it was me who posted again, and not someone with a guess left to make today...

They're FC Copenhagen on Wikipedia, Michael, so I'd consider F as the first letter for the purposes of this game (#258)

I may as well continue my domination of this competition, post wise and word wise. According to English wikipedia I interpreted Bröndby as not being part of Copenhagen (which surprised me a bit). It seems to be a kommun/kommune/municipality of its own. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Br%C3%B8ndby And F K and C all were OK letters. (I notice AIK, is being listed as coming from Solna, though we think of it as a very Stockholm club. I trust you're right. Maybe another one for the ambigiousuisity thread...) Come on and make a guess now, if you haven't already. I think 60 % of my wins have come with you as the quizmaster.

You've been completely clear with the naming in this quiz, Paul, no problem. However, I would in general think that prefixes like FC, AFC or AC shouldn't be included as part of the name but perhaps this is another ambiguity for Chris to decide on and write some guidelines.

G: FC Midtjylland The first non-English side to beat Manchester City in Manchester in European competitions. As Paddy was quicker I'll obviously retract my guess .

No idea why you've chosen this if it's right, but I've excluded all NK teams from Croatia, all the Copenhagen clubs and those who haven't made it into Europe... so... Q: Are they from Croatia? G: HNK Cibalia?
Look I've even done a picture Not that I've been waiting long... Ooh look, their nickname is "Nebesko plavi (The Sky-blues)" and their home kit is the exact same as Sheffield FC's away kit. Hmmm, did you know Cibalia is Croatian for Blackburn? POST REPLY..... NOW! Have I won? HA!!! I came fourth and came up with a completely different answer

Need to ask this to steady myself: Is this club from Denmark? Yes it is, mip I'm completely lost on this one. As far as I can see none of the 12 Danish Super League clubs are possible now. For clarification, do you count Greenland and The Faroe Islands as part of Denmark? I'd probably count Greenland as part of Denmark but not the Faroes, as the latter has its own UEFA place(s). But, as a freebie, this is not a club from Greenland.

Oh no, possible controversy.... The answer is Fortuna Hjørring, the only Danish women's team to reach the UEFA Champions League Final and (presumably) the most successful Danish women's team ever (?) But was mip offside?? Or is the retraction of post #94 allowed, even though I was typing my response before I saw the retraction? I suspect that, as the retraction was timed at 12.01 and my response is timed at 12.02, mip is the winner, but I'll defer to Jamesie (as mod) for final ruling. Oh, for video replays.....

I'll say onside. mip wins. Unless anyone objects? No? Game on. Coming to think of it, you did get one yourself after retracting your guess, didn't you. Olembe was it? Or am I completely off here? Fortuna Hjørring is by far the best Danish women's team of the last decade or probably more than that. I'm considering doing Hjørring Stadion for one of their games but haven't come around to it yet. Yes, he did remember that one well of course . This one went a similar way but perhaps even more gruelling !!
