I had hoped for a free Saturday as we're out of the FA Cup, and i was planning to watch another local game instead - but the powers that be, have brought forward a league match from later in the month.
So its Hemel Hempstead Town v Cambridge City for me. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon anyway, should be a cracking match if Hemel can discover a way of scoring at home.

I ought to be looking at a Trophy game - usually try and do FA Comps over League when the Royals aren't playing - they're at Deepdale that PM.

No particularly inspiring ties though: - looking at one from:- (today's Prelim Round outcomes permitting )

Walton Casuals vs Heybridge Swifts
Wingate & Finchley vs Ashford Town (Mx)
Potters Bar Town/Brentwood Town vs Waltham Forest/AFC Sudbury
Wealdstone vs Croydon Athletic
Aveley vs Hitchin Town
Barton Rovers vs Leighton Town/Chipstead
Enfield Town vs Great Wakering Rovers/Ashford Town

The Town saw them off 2-1 todayCool

So if your looking for an inspiring tie, may i suggest BURY TOWN v Leighton Town

Perils of posting earlier than the Prelim. round Tongue

...should have explained (maybe) I only listed possible games at places a) I hadn't been to or b) within 2 hrs drive.

- just made it confusing I spose when I missed off any sides that could have been at home in some ties where a) or b) applied i.e. Bury - sorry!Blush

... I expect the 'Buzzard' (sorry 'Reds') fan might be on here later bigging up their chances against you - after they whumped Chipstead 7-1!

... note I also missed a few others off for reason a) i.e. Godalming but they had the good grace to get thrapesed 1-5 by Enfield Town.

Oh and I've had another look and given a quick getaway that Sat, I s'pose I could make an effort and go for:- Whitstable v Brackley, Bromsgrove v Gloucester or Crowborough v Northwood - though only the first one looks that enticing.

I hope there isn't a problem with getting tickets. Den Haag were only selling tickets to locals last season and the fact that Feyenoord are the visitors to Willem II might also create problems. You need to contact the home clubs in advance.

You might also be able to take in a Sat afternoon game before Roda JC - either in the Dutch Zaterdag amateurs or across the border in Germany (see www.kicker.de and click on matchkalender.)

I know a Willem II fan who has already got us the tickets, and for Den Haag for the first and possibly only time they are conducting a one match experiment (easy against Volendam who have no away fans), where people can buy tickets on the day by showing ID (passport or driving licence). If it all goes well and it is nearly a sell out, expect them to experiment 'again' with lesser supported away teams ;). Watch this space.

As a matter of interest how did you manage to wangle tickets for Nijmegen. I went to the reverse fixture at Vitesse last season, and we literally had to go to the stadium the day before the game and beg. I'm in Holland next weekend and that was a potential game for me. However someone I know came up trumps with Willem v Feyernoord tickets, so that option won, but I was wondering if I would have to beg at Nijmegen.

Am having difficulty motivating myself for Barnet's long away trips this season due to the continuing dreadful performances (another last night at D&R!) but as we are at the Don Valley v. Rotherham, a new ground for me, I'll be there (I don't expect to enjoy it though).

My preference (as stated above) is for a Trophy game over League - my mate has expressed his choice as Walton Casuals vs Heybridge or Wealdstone vs Croydon Ath - I'm happy with either as they are both fairly close and we'd get back in time for a Scouts Supper we've been invited to. Unsure

However I've just checked current form and am now drawn by Brentwood vs AFC Sudbury 1st in the IL1N vs 2nd in the SL1M - probably will 'go with the flow' and not risk the M25 that PM though.

Most surprisingly there is a chance I may be able to get to a game on Saturday. Depending what time my boys swimming gala finishes in Colchester I could well be going to a match in the vicinity. I'm tempted by Nayland Rangers v Feering United (Colchester & East Essex League Division 2) where 2nd plays 1st.

I do have a good half dozen other choices however so may change my mind before then.

FA Trophy for me - Wingate and Finchley v Ashford Town (Middx) - first visit to Summers Lane for me - will Ashford put out a full team a week before meeting Forest Green in the FA Cup ?

Might try to get to the MK Dons v Coventry Academy match at 11.0 at Woughton in the morning, if I feel adventurous, and positive about tackling the M1 afterwards - how is the M1 around 1 on a Sat afternoon near Luton ? Probably a nightmare with the roadworks between Luton and Hemel, I guess.

Was fine Southbound last week, we left Brackley for Boreham Wood at 11.30 and arrived at the ground by 1.30 after 3 player pick ups and a stop at South Mimms

Bury Town v. Leighton Town (FA Trophy)

I'll settle for 1-0 this timeSly As long as it doesn't go to a replay as Tuesday's my mother's birthday and I would expect my presence to be required elsewhereCrazy

1 Hellenic Prem: Ardley Utd v Shrivenham

Just a minor note of caution (was probably just me) but when I went a few weeks back, I found Ardley v.difficult to find cos I'd was trying to follow a map I'd done myself from a Postcode search.

As posted on a previous thread take the first right hand turn heading south from the M40 j 10
- Ardley Rd - signed Fewcott/Fritwell I think? The entrance was then on the right hand side - was a big sign for Brazilian Soccer Schools. Crazy

The location on the Official Hellenic site is spot on. Wink

Oh ... and mind your head on the ceiling of the bar upstairs - it slopes down above the tables - even the lad nearly put a dent in it when he stood up! Tongue

Tim

The game should be interesting Corinthian-Casuals totally Amateur ( no wages no expenses) against Kingstonians who probably have the biggest budget in the division, club in 20th place against top of the league.

If we Corinthian-Casuals play as well as in the last two games ( 6 goals 4 points ) we should give them some problems although Kingstonians must start favorites.

If you attend please post on here details of how you enjoyed the game.

For someone who gets paranoid of the hyphen out of the middle of "Corinthian-Casuals" ever gets omitted, you would thought you could get the name of Kingstonian right, wouldn't you?

But tempted by a F.A. Sunday Cup game at Belstone if they are going to issue ?
