Unfotunately Tony has had to spend a few days in hospital. He wont be out until they have finished some tests, may be a few days because of the weekend. He is fine now, but bored to tears and can't wait to get back to the computer.

Hope you make a speedy recovery and that your tests are marked by a sympathetic invigilator !
I APOLOGISE UNRESERVEDLY TO EACH AND EVERY PERSON ON THIS FORUM WHO HAS FELT LET-DOWN BY MY INIMICABLE AND DEPLORABLE BEHAVIOUR OF OCTOBER 28th. 2009. ESPECIALLY TO BRIAN, WHO IS A MARVELLOUS GENTLEMAN AND IS THE LAST PERSON HERE WHO SHOULD HAVE TO PUT UP WITH SUCH UNDESERVED PERSONAL CHARACTER-ASSASSINATION. LET IT BE KNOWN THAT A PRIVATE PERSONAL APOLOGY WAS SENT, BUT WAS SEEN INSUFFICIENT. FAIR ENOUGH.

Just to let everyone know that I have been diagnosed with bowel cancer with a secondary cancer on my liver. Treatment will not start in earnest for a couple of weeks, but, as you can imagine, keeping an eye on the message board or updating the main site are not high priorities at the moment. Thanks to all those people who have wished me well. It means a great deal.

Hi, Tony. It's a big challenge and I wish you the very best in meeting & overcoming it. Hospital humour is something else! I found the radiologists the most manic, the anaesthetists the most quirky and the nurses the most daring! Never heard any of the consultants laughing, but I'm told they have their own style as well. Go with the flow and try to remain upbeat. Best regards. Trevor.

I don't really know what to say. Two of my relatives have suffered from the same problem. The treatment of all forms of cancer have improved dramatically over recent years and those forms of cancer that were once considered very bad are now reacting to newer medicines. Even the treatments have become easier to take. I wish you the best and am praying for you. Michael

I have only just seen this thread and I was shocked, particularly as my father died from liver cancer (or kidney cancer - can't remember which) in 1996. I hope you manage to pull through. We all owe you a huge debt - your website is the one I look at more than any other, as my work colleagues will testify!

I've been so busy watching Euro 2008 that I haven't been on much, hence my shock when I found the latest news about this thread tonight. Tony I wish you the best of luck in your fight. My mum had a successful fight against cancer and although it's a frightening opponent it can be beaten. When you're feeling down, please try to think of the regard in which you are held by all on this forum, and indeed in the wider football community. You have many friends even though you may not know them. Unlike many of us (me included! ) you seem to have no enemies. My thoughts are with you and your family and I hope you make a speedy recovery.

I hope you have read all the messages of support Tony and that it has given you some encouragement. My wife was diagnosed in 2004 with stage 4 cancer and now 4 years later is all clear, i cant pretend that it wasnt tough going through all the treatment and the effect it had on her and our family but she is a fighter like im sure you are and that is half the battle and the patients and hospital staff around her were brilliant, for the patients it is like a close community because lots of people are going through the same battle. Wish you all the best, your work on this website is immense and awesome, hope to hear back from you soon.

Sorry, didnt know this folder even existed, so only found out when a thread appeared on the General folder..... Good luck with everything Tony, your dedication and personal touch has won you so many admirers, myself included, which is why this list is so very long already and still growing. It sort of makes endless discussion of restructuring and reprievals and the like seem quite insignificant but you know that wont stop the rest of us so you'll have plenty to read when you come back online (both physically and metophorically)...hopefully very soon. Best Wishes, JON

I spoke to FSF* last week - we passed a card around at the FCUM open day, and didn't know where to send it, basically. FSF said - and confirmed today - that they'd be happy to forward stuff (you'd probably want to include a blank envelope with a stamp on). The address is: Tony Kempster c/o FSF 1 Ashmore Terrace Stockton Rd Sunderland SR2 7DE * The Kempster won the FSF "Services to Football Supporters" award a couple of weeks back... http://www.nlpl.co.uk/forum/gforum.cgi?post=108196

Tony, I tend not to visit many football websites during the summer, therefore only just read you have been unwell, tests and the pleasure of the NHS. Good luck mate. Baz at AFC Sudbury.
