Man City Transfer Target!

Speedway crowds have gone down like Non League crowds have, my father used to talk about regular 10,000 plus at Oxford and Swindon in the 1950's. Even in Oxford's Golden era of the mid / late 80's 5,000 would only happen on very special occasions. When they folded in 2007 it was down to 400 or 500 hundred. So many of the name teams have gone in the past quarter of century. In 1984 if you said to someone in 30 years time there will be no Cradley, Oxford, Wimbledon, Reading no one would have believed you. I used to go every week to Cowley, not seen a live meeting now for years. We no longer have all the stars riding on a regular basis in this country, also though there are some very good riders I don't know if they have the appeal of the likes of Briggs, Mauger, Olsen, Penhill, Neilsen and Gundersen. All of whom I saw ride and all of those could team ride not a thing you see to much of today. To me only Greg Hancock has the appeal of those riders. Yes we have an English World Champion and we have had 5 in the past 50 years but we just can't keep up (literally) with the Danes, the Aussies, the Poles and even the Russians these days.
Re: [Feversham Lens] Where are you going - where did you go? SPEEDWAY!!!
As an aside I have never seen any sportsman that was so professional and diligent over a long period of time as Hans Neilsen was, and he is a really nice bloke. Our speedway and food expert form Rushall even calls him a Gentleman.
