Re: [stevegraze] Quarter-Final Fixtures (Sunday December 1, 2019) [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

As Steve said the South London tie was the game of the round and it was Lambeth All Stars who took the honours with a 3-0 win against SE Dons. I didn't attend the match but reading social media it seems there were between 500-700 supporters watching along with singer/musician Stormzy and some ex pros.

They will play Turkish side Kizilirmak who defeated El Valiente 4-2. Sunday was not a good day for the Youtube sides as Highgate Albion continued their excellent season beating Baiteze 3-1.

Gower take the final semi spot winning on pens v Orpington Rovers.

Both semi's will be played in North London, with Highgate home to Gower and Kizilirmak hosting Lambeth All Stars.

The reason Kizilirmak play their games at 2pm is mainly down to the venue they use which is New River Sports Stadium. The venue is often booked out for morning fixtures hence the later kick off's.

Following their win LAS must be warm favourites, and along with the FA Sunday cup they are still in the Surrey County cup, which however could be their downfall due to all the fixtures they have to play. I will post links later in the week for Baiteze and SE Dons games.

It could be feasibly possible to actually watch both semi finals with Highgate's ground about a 20 min journey to New River.

We could also actually see the LFA Final also hosting the same two sides of the FA Sunday Cup, as LAS and HA are both vying for national honours swell.

According to the London FA website, the Kizilirmak v Lambeth All Stars Semi-Final will be played on the 12th January with the Highgate Albion v Gower match taking place the following Sunday on it's originally arranged date.

The other two London FA Sunday Cup competitions are quite interesting at the moment, as in the Semi-Finals of the Challenge ('Intermediate-standard') Trophy, we have two Barnet Sunday League sides (AC United and The Winchmore) drawn against each other in one of them, while there is a strong possibility of another in Trabzonspor UK reaching the other Semi-Final if they beat their former Turkish Community Football Federation rivals Mehmetcik Galata in their delayed Quarter-Final this coming Sunday.
The other Semi-Finalists are likely to be AFC Hammersmith Town, who are easily the best side in the Premier Division of the Harrow Sunday Challenge League nowadays with the likes of Park Royals and AC Finchley having moved across to the Barnet League.

In the London Sunday Junior Cup, another Barnet Sunday League side, Muswell Hill, are through to the Quarter-Finals, but still in that competition are Sporting Club de Mundial, who are well above Mile End Baiteze Squad in the Premier Division of the Hackney & Leyton Sunday League and surely must be the favourites for that competition, even though Muswell Hill are the only team to have beaten Highgate Albion this season with a 5-4 win in a recent Premier Division match !
Sporting Continental (from Division One of the Southern Sunday League) and Inter Globo (from Division Two of the Camden Sunday League) also look to be exceptionally good sides as well though, although Inter Globo are playing Sporting Club de Mundial in the Quarter-Finals, so that will probably be where their journey ends.

The Barnet Sunday League currently have 20 of it's 55 teams still involved in County Cup competitions (mainly Middlesex FA) with several through to Quarter-Finals in those as well.
The Premier Division have Rising Ballers as Highgate Albion's biggest rivals, but the previously-mentioned Park Royals, The Winchmore and Muswell Hill are all very strong sides.
Division One is arguably just as tough though with four top Premier Division-standard sides in that this season, namely AC United (featuring well-known rapper Joe Black), Trabzonspor UK, AC Finchley and Takers, a high-profile You Tube team who could well be the best side in the League at the moment.

...and yes, that is my team near the bottom of that Division One table and we have been getting battered by those top teams this season. Unimpressed

Extremely refreshing to see the rise and popularity of Sunday football. The Youtube teams have certainly made an impact on that but the quality of some of these sides is extremely high.

Celebrities are also getting on the act with Mark Wright (ex Towie and married to Michelle Keegan) who was an academy player at Arsenal FC turning out for a club called Colebrook Royals and tweeted the following after his last game.

"Another 7-1 win for us today. No draws, no losses all year just all wins. I will go on record without seeing any teams outside of our region and say, there is no better Sunday team than us in the UK. Its Impossible."

Some statement but they do have Joe Cole and Jamie O'Hara registered so he may feel he is justified.

Be interesting to see what happens in the LFA Cup next season as I feel it will only get stronger.
