One game will again be moved to the Friday night for live tv. Obviously that has to be at a ground with suitable floodlights. Auchinleck v Cove would have been the obvious choice but Beechwood Park doesn't currently have lights.

Spartans or Deveronvale might be the choice. Bonnyrigg v Buckie also possible if their lights are good enough for live tv.

Stirling Uni v Linlithgow Rose will need to be played on a different date as Stirling Alkbion will take precedence on the Saturday.

It would be one of the best games but I doubt if the lights there would be good enough for television. Also, given the number of huge tv lorries that were at Kelty on Friday, I don't know where they could put them at Penicuik.

I have a feeling they'll opt for Queen's Park from the historical angle.

The other game that sticks out for possible TV coverage is Edinburgh City v Banks O'Dee

It seems odd (well nothing is odd when it comes to the SFA) that they made great play about the requirements for floodlights in order to get a licence, actually citing the televising of floodlit cup games and then licence clubs with lights which aren't good enough for televising cup games.

There's a whacking great public park which could accommodate the tv lorries.

If it's Spartans v QP it's a cert. Travelling as far north as Banff might cause nosebleeds though.

BBC Scotland could do they same as normal BBC do for early FA Cup qualifying games and send up one camera/cameraperson and do the commentary from a room in the BBC Scotland studios.

You'll be glad to know then that the lux requirements for a licence are about to be tightened up!

Several clubs will have to improve their lights accordingly, including some who have just erected them.

Penicuik's aren't the worst but the main problem is that the pylons are too low. Watching a game there under lights is like being at the Shire Park in the 1970s.

Having frequently walked across the park surrounding Penicuik's pitch , you'd need to hope for a dry three weeks if you were going to attempt to park these huge lorries on it.

Re: [prorege] William Hill Scottish Cup 2019-20 [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

For clarity the current criteria for an Entry level Licence are:

Working floodlights (mandatory)
Recommended: Average 200 lux, Variation at each testing point maximum plus or minus 0.25

Some clubs have lights that fall short of the recommended criteria by some distance.

The new criteria might be a mandatory level of around 180 lux with the same allowances for variation. The issue for some clubs will be about the height of the pylons to ensure consistent lux coverage across the whole pitch. For a few it would be the output of the lights themselves rather than the coverage that is an issue.

Broadcasters usually require 300 lux, plus or minus 0.25, for live television. All SPFL clubs apart from Albion Rovers meet that requirement, plus most Highland and some Lowland League clubs.

If Princess Royal Park hasn't dried out by then, they'll try again on Tuesday.

Stirling University v Linlithgow Rose confirmed as 3pm on the Sunday.

For the other clash, at Ainslie Park, in the Cup Spartans get priority over Edinburgh City, so it's Spartans v QP at 3pm Saturday.
Not yet decided when Ed City v Banks o' Dee will be. An Ed City person has posted on P&B that it can't be the Sunday because there's an U17s women's international that block-books Ainslie all day (UEFA Women's U17 Championships, Scotland v Italy, 12:30 KO).
And if I were BoD I'd refuse to be forced to travel down there for a Friday night fixture.
So my logic would deduce - we might well get a Saturday evening fixture out of this one... Smile
