E M United (Maybe should be in History section) Can't Post or Reply Privately

...but Scottish football history is pretty specialist!

Does anyone know anything of this junior team's history? I was reading an account of Irvine Meadow's Junior Cup tie away to E M United in the late 60s. The tie was played at Loanhead.

Was "E M" Easthouses and Mayfield? I think Loanhead Mayflower were probably defunct by 1968 (haven't checked) so was Loanhead the club's home or was the ground simply more suitable for a big game than their real home ... wherever that was?

Thanks for that. So presumably the Meadow tie at Loanhead was just to make use a bigger ground.

Murray Park had a notorious reputation for waterlogging, so I expect that was why the match was moved. The original Easthouses Lily and then EM United quite often had to move home games to Dakeith etc for this reason.
