It's fairly clear on their website complete with a badge of Wakefield AFC.

No, they've just been placed into a different Step 7 division.

I’m sure I read somewhere that East Stirlingshire were knocking their Reserves on the head for the forthcoming season. So it must be as you say.

Shire haven't had a reserve side since the days of SPFL football.

ES haven't even listed the game at Wakefield. Entrance for Frickley is also £5 (£3 concessions)

Slightly relevant to this topic, I noticed yesterday that Wakefield United announced on Twitter that they are folding, partially because of the formation of Wakefield FC and the competition this would cause between the clubs for facilities, fans etc.

I went along to this (and the game at Frickley the night before). East Stirlingshire played their first team squad including some trialists for both games.

The match was at the 4G pitch by the side of the Dorothy Hyman Sports Centre in Cudworth. Wakefield had some good players, but they were mostly inexperienced and clearly needed some game time together. Enjoyable first game, though.

Final score: Wakefield (1) 1 East Stirlingshire (2) 5. Attendance 67 (head count)

67 in attendance for the inaugural match of a club whose ownership "realise there’s a huge demand for a professional club in Wakefield." From small acorns, I guess..

There is a demand - though huge is probably over-egging it - for professional football in Wakefield. Unfortunately for Wakefield FC, and their predecessors, that demand is satisfied (depending where one lives in the Wakefield area) by Barnsley, Huddersfield Town and Leeds United. Is there a demand for non-league football in Wakefield? Recent history suggests there simply isn't.

To answer my own question, and using the forum search - there is another ground, sometimes known as the Dorothy Hyman stadium in Wombwell, which I visited in 1985 for Wombwell SA. Apart from the name, the only other common item between the other stadium and the one in Cudworth is that neither of them are in Wakefield

I think the only Dorothy Hyman Stadium/Sports Centre is the one in Cudworth.

It was also used by AFC Barnsley when they played in the County Senior League, although if Wakefield are using the 3G then I’d call that a separate ground.

Really , I recall something like ''Station Rd'', not got ledgers to hand but don't recall owt to do with D Hyman then in the 80's.

When I went in 1985, it appeared as "The Stadium, Station Road". It was some reports on here that gave it the name Dorothy Hyman, which is what rang a bell in my mind

Station Road (Wombwell) is the one currently used by Wombwell Town:

Dorothy Hyman (Snydale Road, Cudworth) main pitch pictured here:
https://www.flickr.com/...ms/72157672315687073
Both have running tracks round them, and both were known as the Dorothy Hyman Stadium previously, though now only the Cudworth one is. This below taken from a karting website give some insight into the confusion...

The venue was Rome 46 years ago. Rudolph had just won her third gold medal of the Olympic Games. Finishing mere fractions behind to claim Silver was a young athlete from Yorkshire who had earlier taken Bronze in the 200m sprint. Back home in Cudworth near Barnsley, she was given a rousing reception from local residents who immediately organised collections so that her remarkable achievements could be properly commemorated. The Dorothy Hyman Stadium in Cudworth was built within 12 months and the organisers were able to find sufficient funds for another one at neighbouring Wombwell. A kart circuit had already been in operation there for two years and this became incorporated into the new stadium. With this sudden injection of cash, South Yorkshire Kart Club was able to make improvements to their existing circuit and it soon became one of Britain’s top karting venues.

“We ceased to be known as the Dorothy Hyman Stadium more than 25 years ago,” points out Brian Lord, a long standing official at the circuit. “Back in the seventies, the athletics track started to look a bit tatty and Dorothy no longer wanted her name associated with it. We keep asking for our entry in the yearbook to be altered but it’s still listed under the old title It can be a bit confusing for visiting karters as they keep getting directed several miles away to the stadium at Cudworth that still bears Dorothy’s name. In its heyday, the complex was used by 16 different sporting organisations ranging from pigeon fanciers to a soccer club and ourselves. Originally, a charitable trust known as the Wombwell and Darfield Sports Association was established to hold everything together but this actually went into liquidation several years ago. It was in the club’s interests to revive this charity but we’ve had to fight off a takeover bid from people whose sympathies certainly didn’t lean towards karting. Because of the way things were originally set up, there’s been a legal minefield to negotiate and we forked out over £30,000 in court costs before finally winning our case.”

If they're using the 3G pitch at DHC, presumably the ground wouldn't be deemed eligible for the CMLs top tier anyway?
