Hellenic League 2019/20 Can't Post or Reply Privately

Maybe premature to create this thread ahead of next weekend's league AGM but, since another forum has revealed the provisional constitutions for the Hellenic Division 2s (copied below), it might be useful now to pull things together. Can update constitutions with any changes after the AGM.

As thing stand, pending any late changes and ratification at AGM:

Premier Division - 19 clubs (20 per original FA allocation less Chipping Sodbury moved back to Western)

Division 1 West - 16 clubs (14 per original FA allocation less Kidlington Dev moved to Div 1 East, plus Stonehouse from Glocs County plus Moreton and Bourton from Div 2 West)

Division 1 East - 18 clubs (15 per original FA allocation plus Kidlington Dev moved from Div 1 West plus Langley and Long Crendon from Div 2 East)

Division 2, now three divisions, mostly reserve and development sides:
West:
AFC Chippenham
Brimscombe
Clanfield
Fairford town
Farringdon
Highworth town
Kintbury
Letcombe
Newent
Shortwood

For clarification, which of the Division 2 clubs in these provisional constitutions are NOT Reserves/Development teams, as it isn't entirely clear just from the list itself?

Division 1 East - 18 clubs (15 per original FA allocation plus Kidlington Dev moved from Div 1 West plus Langley and Long Crendon from Div 2 East)

Division 2, now three divisions, mostly reserve and development sides:
West:
AFC Chippenham - one assumes related to Chippenham Town, who withdrew their (completely honestly 100% independent) Chippenham Park side at the end of last season
Brimscombe - reserves, 1st team Hellenic Prem
Clanfield - reserves, 1st team Hellenic 1 West
Fairford town - reserves, 1st team Hellenic Prem
Farringdon - actually Faringdon (one "r") and a first team
Highworth town - reserves, 1st team Southern, 1 South
Kintbury - Kintbury Rangers are listed in the Wiltshire League, so not sure about this one.
Letcombe - returning first team?
Newent - reserves, 1st team Hellenic 1 West
Shortwood - reserves, 1st team Hellenic 1 West
Shivrenham - reserves, 1st team Hellenic Premier
Wantage - - reserves, 1st team Southern, 1 Central

North:
Adderbury Park - 1st Team
Aston Clinton - first team is at Step 7 (Spartan S Mids)
Banbury United - reserves, 1st team Southern Prem C
Buckingham ath - reserves, 1st team Spartan S Mids 1
Chinnor - reserves, 1st team Hellenic 1 East
Easington - reserves, 1st team Hellenic Premier
Heyford ath - last season 1st team was Oxfordshire, this year listed in Northants Comp
Long crendon res - new after first team promoted to 1 East
Milton United - reserves, 1st team Hellenic 1 East
Old bradwell - first team is at Step 7 (Spartan S Mids)
Southam - reformed first team with new ground
Woodstock - first team

South:
Abingdon United - reserves,1st team in Hellenic 1 East
Aldermaston - reserves,1st team in Hellenic 1 East
Chalfont Wasps - 1st Team
Chalvey - reserves,1st team in Hellenic 1 East
Hazelmere - First Team and New, Possible from the two Hazelmere clubs in last seasons Wycombe League (Titans and Crusaders)
Langley dev - reserves,1st team in Hellenic 1 East
Penn - reserves,1st team in Hellenic 1 East
Risborough - reserves,1st team in Hellenic 1 East
Stokenchurch - 1st Team
Taplow - 1st Team
Virginia water - reserves,1st team in Hellenic Premier
Wallingford - reserves,1st team in Hellenic 1 East
Wokingham - reserves,1st team in Hellenic 1 East

I think that is it, with the first teams in bold, and those where it appears there may be a Step 7 first team in green

I believe the two Hazlemere clubs you refer too were always just one club - I believe the Titans and Crusaders monikers came about for the two separate teams operated by the one club, when the Wycombe & District League contracted to a single division last year, and they didn't want a reserve and first team playing in the same division.

Now sadly the Wycombe & District League has contracted further....to no divisions!! And so Hazlemere have seemingly contracted to a single team too and moved to the Hellenic, rather than going to the Aylesbury & District League for refuge!

The Div 2 list was copied off the other forum. No further details seen as yet but others on here will know more than me about some of these lower division sides.

Heyford ath - last season 1st team was Oxfordshire, this year listed in Northants Comp

Completely different clubs.

There were two separate clubs called Heyford Athletic last season, both playing at Step 7 - but from different villages with Heyford in the name.

The Northants Combo side (who are lined up to be in it next year too) are from Nether Heyford in Northamptonshire and of course have nothing to do with the club in the OSL last season.

The OSL side (who have now moved to the Hellenic seemingly...) are from Lower Heyford in Oxfordshire.

I have just noticed that Headington Amateurs are missing - anyone know where they have gone? Not heard anything about them folding so assuming they have gone to another league? OSL Division One???

Oversight on the other forum. Too late to edit my opening post but apparently Headington are in the north division.

I guess as North Berks League has no interest in pursuing Step 7 status then for likes of Faringdon, Letcombe and Kintbury only option is to join a step 7 league in bordering area or accept Hellenic 2 as only possible means of progressing. Southam website stated they were looking to join Midland League Division 3 however assume were not accepted hence have seen Hellenic 2 as next best option.

I thought Kintbury are in Wiltshire league so I assume any side in Hellenic will be a res/development team. Why would they leave a recognised step 7 league.

Yes Kintbury 1st team are in Wiltshire League and 2nd team have joined Hellenic from Swindon Alliance. It was more a general observation I that there was a hole in the pyramid for clubs in west of Berkshire with Hellenic 2 and North Berks League officially both dead ends.

Those in charge at Southam told us that they did not apply for the MFL but decided to take the Hellenic route, if they had applied I am sure they would have been accepted.

Thanks for confirming that sir, the general manager is an ex Manager of ours and told us that when we were arranging a pre-season friendly.

In answer to Martin9 I know all the people involved and with their new stadium in place they are sure to climb the pyramid. The only problem as I see it is the backing from the townsfolk, the centre of Southam is dead on a Saturday with few people about and half the shops apparently closed. Hopefully the new impressive facilities will arouse more interest.

Swindon Robins have tweeted a photo of the Hellenic constitutions following the league's AGM today: https://pbs.twimg.com/...t=jpg&name=large

Premier and divisions 1 are unchanged from my opening post, as expected.

Division 2 has 13 clubs in the west and 14 in each of the north and south. This means the following changes to my opening post:

Swindon Robins added to the west division
Headington Amateurs and Moreton Rangers (presumably their reserves) added to the north division
Yateley United added to the south division (Yateley also appeared in the Thames Valley Premier League constitution so I don't know if this is their firsts or reserves).

Trying to make sense of the Hellenic Division Two’s, having seen the OSL constitution today I think we can safely say that the Heyford Athletic shown in Div 2 North is their first team as they don’t appear in the OSL line up.

But now I see that Yateley United have ‘transferred’ from Hellenic Div 2 South to join the Thames Valley Div 1, which seems a strange move to me. Could it be that it’s Yateley’s reserves that have joined the TVPL from the Aldershot & District? Not surprisingly there is nothing on the Club’s website/twitter to confirm either way

Yateley 1st team were in Hellenic div2east last season. The list says they have floodlights so unless they have been installed at their usual home ground it is perhaps likely they will still be playing at Cody Club where I saw them last season & you are probably correct their res/dev side are inTVL 1
